Sooo, I may have taken up a challenge... I'd like to recreate this legendary sweater: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/155791
I found both the original pattern : https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=iau.31858046091918&view=1up&seq=696&size=125 and a modern translation on Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/1897-butterick-cycling-sweater-victorian
But when I look closely at the museum photos, it looks to me like the top half of the sleeves is worked in a tight fisherman's rib and not in a 1/1 rib like most of the body in the modern instructions. The original pattern says to "rib very loosely with ivory needles" but I have no idea what size those are.
There are some differences between the Met piece and the pattern (different "fancy stitch" used) so it may be also interpretation from the original knitter. I'd like to be as close to the museum version as possible as I really like the look.
So could you help me identify the rib in the top half of the sleeves on the museum pictures? What do you think, is it fisherman's, brioche (I still don't know the difference between them) or something else?
Tbh, some of what i've heard about gay males (like going camping and having huge orgies) sounds disgusting af and worse than hetero couples, cause it's all male...
Women are the control rods for male sexuality. Remove the control rods and you get a meltdown.
I done been saying this. And it’s exhausting to be the control rod. And miserable.
Because men, collectively, want women to be the control rods, just not for them individually.
They want women to take sole responsibility for making sure there are no single-parent homes, children born out of wedlock, divorces, or promiscuity. They also want to keep their porn, casual sex, strip clubs, forever girlfriends, dating apps, open relationships, and "instagram models."
