TW ABUSE, MURDER
sorry for the confusing title lol, english is not my main language and i didn't know how to properly express myself!
today on my roundabout on literature subreddits i saw someone post about how one author just died. i've never personally read any of her books, but lurking on her goodreads, i could see she wrote a lot about those stereotypical "alpha" males and these domineering relationship dynamics. reading the news of her death, she was shot by her husband but she also (probably on self defense, i imagine) stabbed him. hauntingly, on her goodreads bio, it said she had a pseudonym for writing more "stabby romances"...
i guess this post doesn't really have a point except being a rant and perhaps a reflexion on how fictional are these abuses on book really, and what do they mean for the relationships and views of the world of both the people who write and read.
many people i see advocating and these are only fantasies and things they would never do/let happen to them in real life and that they know the line and can differentiate on what's abuse vs romance in real life compared to the books, but this situation does make me wonder... things like this don't just exist without a social context of the people who wrote/read them, and this those worry me on the views that specially young impressionable women, have on what is hot and desirable and how this can/could shape their future and their relationships...
anyways, hoping to hear what other people thing about this subject!
