Another interesting comment:
I'm a trans female and they made me do a pregnancy test when I went to the ER for a gall stone. My insurance covered it
Cool, so insurance is covering this nonsense and waste of time, too.
I'm both a trans man and a healthcare provider. The trans women I know are usually amused or briefly experience gender euphoria (the joy of being assumed to be cisgender) if they are accidentally pregnancy tested, but they don't assume it.
TiMs are getting "gender euphoria" aka boners from being asked if they're pregnant? What?
I cannot get my M--->F patients removed from my delinquent Pap smear list. And it impacts my paychecks.
Wasting of time and fucking up healthcare providers' charts and making them look bad because they're not doing Pap smears on dudes' penises.
I suspect there are many unanticipated issues relating to gender/transitions in legacy laboratory/pathology systems. We had an issue with a serum HCG being filed away with βtumor markersβ for a trans female->male, and their pregnancy was missed as the cause of their abdominal pain on two visits.
This is all so exhausting and fucked up.
And THIS is why people shouldn't be allowed to change their legal sex! It fucks up records, makes it more difficult for health care providers to care for them, and can lead to a trans person getting very sick or dying because doctors weren't made aware or their actual biological sex
They should have sex and gender markers, so healthcare providers know all the facts, can pander with pronouns and not waste resources or.miss deadly conditions.
Exactly. I don't think this issue is as much about pandering to gender ideology by itself, as it is about the systems simply not being made to convey that information accurately. Obviously, if the only options are M or F, then it makes zero sense to use the gender identity rather than the biological sex, but that would probably cause claims of discrimination and what not. The obvious solution is to have one marker for biological sex and one for gender identity (if applicable). But creating confusion as to a person's biological sex is just not it. It's an unnecessary waste of resources at best, and dangerous at worst.
The problem is that when it comes to the ER, they just look at documents and since the documents are inaccurate... Not that a pregnancy test is a huge time and money resource, it costs very little in time, effort and money
Until it's positive.
What do you mean? Of course that a pregnancy costs a lot of money but a test at the ER is super cheap, fast and easy
Just use actual sex on medical charts and in legal documents... While things like pregnancy are obvious, there are other tests with different normal values for males or females and it is important information
TIM takes pregnancy test = Stupid waste of time, but TIM tests positive for pregnancy = TIM gets ultimate euphoria which then devolves into horror once a doctor explains that this can only mean he has testicular cancer.
I doubt this has happened, but I find it fun to think about when I'm feeling petty. TIPs do love to waste time and resources by forcing everyone to play idiotic language games. Besides forcing them to go back to acknowledging reality, I don't know what can be done. The TIFs suffer more from their stupidity while the TIMs just find new crap to fetishize. Gender feels are more important than survival now. I'm not hopeful for a return to reality anytime soon since 'trans' is so lucrative for many industries.
Males getting positive results on pregnancy kits is an indication of testicular cancer or something lol so congrats to all expecting transwomen im happy for you
I recall a bunch of timmies who would make videos with smug facing stating "pregnancy tests give valuable results even to MTFs because they can detect elevated levels of blah blah for prostate cancer."
Key word is smugly. They don't really give a rats ass about whether or not it's effective or efficient, but how much justification they can make for using women's resources.
In this case, it's not TIMs requesting them though, it's just the system standardly running the pregnancy test to every female patient in the ER and since TIMs have inaccurate documents, they just get tested by default. Anyway, while it's stupid, the cost of a pregnancy test is basically nothing, ERs charging insane prices for it are just part of the healthcare system insanity in the US
Kinda like with the tampons where they use to stop their axe-wound from bleeding.
I have literally never been in a situation as a biological woman where I couldn't go, no, there's no way I'm pregnant, I have an IUD, etc. Sometimes I had to sign a form if I was undergoing a procedure or whatever. I guess that would be too dysphoric for TIMs?
I saw a TIM claiming that pregnancy tests double as accurate testicular cancer tests for TIMs recently.
I think that is true, for some types of prostate cancers (or testicular ones, I forgot exactly which). It'd be a much more interesting phenomenon if the people yakking about it weren't raging autogynephiles.
Lol I found a post about this before:
Apparently, the nurses had him do a pregnancy test. He was βclockedβ because they found out his biological sex through his pissππ so then the nurses wrote he was actually male on their system.
Yes, it's usually possible to recover enough DNA from cells shed into the urine to carry out a DNA identitiy test of the kind used by Forensic Scientists to identify individuals. These tests generally include a sex determination test.
Wait til they find out they can be "clocked" from their mother's blood test as a 10 week old fetus. It's written into almost every cell of their bodies.
To be fair, a pregnancy test is not exactly a huge resource, especially if run together with other tests, as it seems to be the case here. It also seems like the doctor (or maybe even a computer) just ordered it, not that the TIM asked for it.
It's still stupid though
The pregnancy tests that You pee on at home work by detecting elevated levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). About half of all men with testicular cancer have a type that raises hCG levels into the same range, so, those men would see two parallel lines if they took a wiz on one of those.
Cancer isn't a joke, but it's legitimately hilarious that those accidental datapoints turn out to be something as iconically male as nut cancer.
YOU CAN'T BECOME FEMALE.
When did this discourse shifted from Trans Woman to Trans Females
Aaaaaaah
It's the gradual colonization of language. Cross dresser > transsexual > transwoman > trans woman > trans female > woman/female. Their end game would be "woman/female" defaulting to TIMs, while actual women always presented with the prefix as "cis woman/female".
Gosh remember when there were transsexuals - usually gay men who longed to be women- and crossdressers - straight men who enjoyed a fantasy of being a woman via outfits, a name, and role playing, all the while asserting that they absolutely were not women and "dressing" was at worst a kink that never crossed into real life???
Some already do this. I've seen some "memes" online of TRAs saying something to the tune of "Real women are hot, and so are cis women."
POV: you're bisexual
That's why I hate the terms MtoF and FtoM so much. THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!!!
They really are leaning hard on the "sex is a social construct" angle. I have had a normie coworker share an article with me that tries to argue this, because she was genuinely a bit confused and knows I have a science background so wanted me to clarify it for her. (The argument boils down to, "Language is a social construct and therefore anything we describe with language is a social construct I am very smart.")
And this is someone working in the medical field...
