This looks really good, thanks for posting.
I keep pointing out that sex roles in animal world aren’t this males are always and only super violent and preying on vulnerable females and that there’s a wider variety in different species. We view animal behaviour through human bias, see the patterns we look for and miss more nuance.
I've only seen people talking about the general traits of aggression and violence in male mammals, not all animals (which is a very wide group, including things like insects, microscopic plankton and sponges).
In mammals it is quite common that males are more aggressive than females, both towards other males, females and young.
Unfortunately the author is high as a kite on gender woo. I was leafing through this in a bookshop and she speaks at the end about how sex is “so complex” and it’s on a spectrum. Also she has pronouns in bio, etc. etc.
Unfortunately yes, but having actually read the book in its entirety I would still 100% recommend it. It contains a lot of interesting information, and the trans ideology stuff is contained to the introduction and the final chapter, if I remember correctly.
Oh great to know! Thank you.
