National and local book drives
Posted October 24, 2023 by MarthaMMC in Books

One of the reasons that some people say there is inequality in education is because some kids don't have books in their homes, either due to costs or the parents or adults who raise them aren't as interested in books. Dolly Parton has a foundation that gives every registered child books. But what if we had drives so that is extended so that kids from birth, in day care, in preschool, & beyond could get books from local book drives & national ones from used as well as new books? To have book drives to donate books to kids to keep at home? I know many people who have inherited books who don't know what to do with them or who to give them to. Some are basic classics. College textbooks are thrown away because there is a new version that Professors assign often with little differences. Some of these could be used by high school kids in math & science. Some new books are overstock, or sit unsold. There would have to be a vetting process. Which is where it could get controversial. But if it is not sexual, or violent or bigoted or outdated (some science books) & would be something they would be assigned in school (not woke), that would speed up the process. And others that might be for more mature or older students, could be available in an appropriate way. Even cook books, or gardening, or about animals or crafts, or art books or poetry are things kids could get, not just storybooks or fiction. It might be random since it would depend on donations, but that would also give people a chance to broaden their interests or see something new they might like. How many books wind up in landfills that should be in people's hands? And we could send some of the adult level books to nursing homes or rehab centers, to shelters, to small free book shelves in places where people go for social services. The number of textbooks that are shredded-you don't even get much for them at used bookstores. But some of the math books & even some science books aren't out of date that fast. And the literature or history texts are usable too. And putting books in homes & giving them to kids could possibly make the next generation more likely to have them for their kids.

I cannot imagine pretending to be a lesbian to serve my husband's fetish. The shame would kill me

I heart Menno

This lesbian less-being could travel anywhere in the world, and back in time since the dawn of humanity, with his wife and have his relationship understood and respected

And he could do it dressed like that.

All he’s gotta do is declare “eccentric artist” and everyone would clap

I heart Menno as well

Or claim that he has invented an alter ego. An Austrian singer does just that. He's a homosexual, very talented guy and also stands by that. However, he has an alter ego that wears long-haired wigs, female clothes (they look tailored to fit him, though) and tons of make-up. And a beard. It's basically his stage persona, he even won the European Song Contest a couple of years ago - and rightly so, too, the song still gives me goosebumps.

However, in his private life and when not on a stage or involved in any kind of show, he's just a regular guy who happens to be homosexual. He never pretended otherwise.

Yep, sounds like Eddie Izard before he went full AGP

That was his thing since the 90s I think

As artistic (or pretentious) blokes have been doing for many decades.

Sometimes people clapped, sometimes we went "what a wally". Yes, do it in the wrong small town and you might get some agro, but about the same as wearing the wrong football scarf.
