In Rowling’s own words, feminism wasn’t one of the four reasons she gave for speaking out on sex and gender issues, they were:...

Men still don't really get it, do they? Feminism is something you do. You don't sit around waiting for someone else to rock up and fix it. Saying 'I did this because X affects women' is more effective than announcing you did it because you are a feminist.

It's sad that Hogwartsprofessor is a misogynistic asshat.

(I mean, judge for yourself, but I recall him applauding the ban on abortion in the US. I used to like to read his stuff, because it was free of that Rowling hatred we see elsewhere, but last time I looked he was firmly convinced Rowling was an anti-choicer. I could tolerate him being a Christian conservative, but the applauding of the murder of hundreds and thousands of women is ... just a bit too distasteful for me to tolerate.)

Edited to add: Thanks for posting the link. I am just ... distracted by my frustration, you know.

  1. Edit: If anyone has a substack account ... can you comment on the "Robin Ellacott is sterile" theory that indeed, Robin might be affected by chlamydia and have an ectopic pregnancy, which would kill her if she lived in a state where abortion is banned? (Perhaps the dude will realize that murdering women for getting pregnant is wrong if one of his favourite literary characters could be affected? Idk, wishful thinking here.)

this article was written by Nick Jeffrey and not by John Granger (HogwartsProfessor)

I read so many tear downs of JK Rowling that it was nice to read something straight forward and thoughtful.
