Has the Covid-19 pandemic affected your reading at all? Are you reading more or less now? Are you reading the same things as usual, or something completely different?
Are you still acquiring or learning about books in the same ways? Are you using your library more or less? How about your local bookstores?
Definitely reading more. I've been an on-and-off reader throughout my life, usually reading at least a book a month throughout most of my adulthood, sometimes going through surges where I'd read like 5 books a month out of nowhere, and then stop for a while, etc. I used to read non-fiction almost exclusively, mostly memoirs. But I also read some historical fiction written by a relative as well as big-name books being discussed, etc.
But since a few months ago I've gone full on into reading. I've read 27 books just since mid-July. Almost entirely fiction (lots of SFF), almost all LGB-centric. It feels good to be back into reading again. I'm using the libby app and borrowing e-books from my local library. I got a kindle so I can read without interruptions, etc.
It's great to be this deep into reading. I'm slowly diversifying what I read and want to read more of the feminist classics.
That's great to hear you've been reading more, even if a pandemic was what nudged you a bit. Keep it up! :)
I used to read a lot when I was younger but once I went to college I got out of the habit. Unfortunately, I still bought books faster than I read them so I ended up with two giant plastic bins filled with books I hadn't read in my room for the past few years. I've actually started to make a dent into them thanks to the Quarantine. I even made a schedule of when to read what books since I'm sick of having them in my room. So COVID has definitely increased my reading. I still bought books online though so my pile isn't really rapidly decreasing, but at least they are different books. And I bought most of those books used so not too terrible on my wallet.
Also, my local library still isn't taking donations at the moment so now I have a pile of read books too. I just want a room that doesn't have piles of stuff everywhere.

Have you ever tried a book swap site? I don't know how active they are these days, but there's Paperbackswap.com and Bookmooch. You send away your books to people who request them, and then you can request books from other people.
Thank you, I've never heard of those places. If the library doesn't lower its restrictions soon I might have to try them.
I've been wondering when mine will open up, but they would have to be able to resell them at a book sale, so I expect it will be a while.
My local library is open for a limited number of hours when I can't stop by but their used bookstore is just closed. I'm hoping since my county's COVID numbers are low that they might loosen the restrictions a bit but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it the way it is until flu season is over, which is gonna be a while.
I've been reading waaay more, so much that I've already exceeded my 2020 Goodreads reading challenge (my goal was 40 and I've read 54). I started out reading mostly the same stuff (fiction) but lately I've been taking more of a foray into nonfiction books, mostly historical stuff about women, or just things related to women/feminism in general. For the most part I've always been the type who only wants to read physical books, but I've slowly warmed up to ebooks over time, especially since March when my state went on lockdown. I've checked out quite a few ebooks from my library via the app Libby, and since my dad pays for Amazon Prime I have access to certain ebooks through Prime Reading and have also read a lot of stuff from there. I also took advantage of Amazon offering me a Kindle Unlimited free trial for two months lol. The situation with bookstores in my area was that they were closed for a while, but they did open back up, although I haven't gone much. If I'm remembering correctly I just went once, specifically to Barnes and Noble, and I only got one book there. The only other books I've bought were books on Kindle.
Reading a lot more, definitely. Specially since I joined Ovarit during quarantine, and found many pdf's. I also got into comics, philosophy, a lot about tarot. But sometimes I get dried up by schoolwork, since I have to read a lot, and reading more during free time leaves me really tired- it leaves me without the energy to investigate.
I read the same amount, my work's "essential" so my schedule didn't change at all.
The past couple of months I've been reading Haruki Murakami, since his books seem so popular. To be honest I kind of hate his writing style.
I still use libraries but no bookstores. All of my introductions to new books have been through the internet so that hasn't changed at all either.
I was just trying to get back in the habit of using the library regularly (after > a decade), when covid hit. So that was that.
But I have been reading more, just lately, ironically thanks to transactivism. Normally my evenings are taken up with making things for others. But I got pissed off with my fandom for posting stupid things about 'terfs', so I feel no motivation to entertain them, and am reading instead, for once. I may actually hit the goals I set at the start of the year, at this rate. :P
Due to personal stress last year and covid this year, my reading has been at a real low for both 2019 and 2020. I used to read at least 50 books per year, but I've really been struggling. I've had more time on my hands this year due to staying indoors almost all the time, yet I've barely read anything. It's been hard to concentrate. I really want to get back to it though - I miss it!
You're definitely not alone in this, but hopefully it will be temporary.
Have you tried reading something different, maybe shorter or lighter, like poetry or a short story? It might not be a full book, but it might be worth a try.
I did read a novella not super long ago and I really enjoyed that! I should definitely try to ease back into things with some lighter books. Thanks for the encouragement. :)
I've really left true crime! I'm rereading stuff I never made time for before because it was always on to the next thing.
I read a lot of apocalyptic, dystopian, totally not intellectual, kindle unlimited fiction. I throw in some zombies once in a while, too.
It is pure escapism and somehow, it seems to fit with the general state of the world these days.
