FictionWhat are everyone's honest opinions on Lolita?

For context, I have not yet read this book but I have read several extracts alongside different reviews and I wanted to know what everyone here thought of it?

The reason being, this book has sold millions of copies and it's not just men consuming it - women seem to have a lot to say about it too - but I don't trust places like Reddit (which is brimming with pornsick men and rape apologists) to give reviews which aren't just asskissing the book because they see their own secret desires reflected in the pages and think liking the book gives them edgy-intellectual points or some crap.

Men lusting after young girls is not a new or controversial thing to me (or to most women who have experienced being objectified as a child) but people seem to be fascinated that this book dares to express it in print. To me, it seems like a very simple and tired notion dressed up with decent writing and so therefore, people think it's wonderful but I'd love to know what people here think - especially if you have read it!
