Biographies and MemoirsWe Can Live Like This: A Memoir of a Culture by Lisa Vogel

Lisa Vogel is the long-time producer of the Michigan Women's Music Festival. I'm only 5% into the book, but I want write to every dyke I know: Read this!

Her style is simple and clear and very funny. She doesn't start with "I was born." She starts with everything that went wrong with the first festival, which she thought would be the only festival, including how Sound Guy wouldn't rent equipment to her if no men weren't allowed at the festival.

You get no-context sentences like "I was being paid a union wage and for the first time since I quit selling drugs full time that I had money in my pocket."

I'm going to read this slowly to savor it.

It's available from a few online women's bookstores, and of course Amazon.
