I've been meaning to write this post for a while. I wanted to give a shout-out to J.K. Rowling's Cormoran Strike detective books (written under her pen name Robert Galbraith). I'm not usually into mysteries or detective novels, but I absolutely flew through all five (one after the other) when I was laid up a few months back. They're smart, excellent reading, sprinkled with plenty of gender-critical tidbits throughout (dating all the way back to the first book!), and hard to put down, which has been especially great during these stressful times when it's all too easy to get sucked into doom-scrolling if you don't have a good book at the ready. I picked up the books thanks to a rec here on Ovarit - THANK YOU! - and wanted to pay it forward now.
I read all of the books through my library's e-book collection, but I'm planning to buy them in paperback for my permanent collection to support J.K. Rowling and because I'm sure I'll pick them up again on a rainy day. If you can afford to do so, please consider buying them for yourself or giving them as a gift!
