Recommendation RequestFantasy stories with minimal romance?
I read a lot of fantasy, but I’m so tired of this “romantasy” trend that’s infected the genre. I hate reading about romance. Could anyone recommend some female-centered fantasy books with minimal romance?
I prefer female main characters. I don’t think I’ve read a book with a male MC in years. But it also feels like so many fantasy books with female MCs have romance as a significant aspect of the plot. I don’t mind if there’s a romantic side plot (like in Harry Potter, where the romance in the later books was somewhat secondary to the main story and the character relationships still mostly centered around the friendship between the main trio), but I don’t want romance to be the entire story and don’t want a love triangle to be central to the main character’s relationships. I’d like stories in which the most plot significant relationships the main characters have are with female friends or family rather than male love interests.
I’ve been in a serious reading slump for a while now 😭 and am hoping to find something nice to get me out of it.
