The popularity of “Dark Romance” books is concerning to me. It’s all rape and women being sexually brutalized
I’ve said this before on other online spaced and I have been ripped to shreds and called a puritan and a prude. Most of these “dark romance” books are terribly written smut and it’s men abusing women in all kinds of ways. Usually the men rape the women and they fall in love. The sex is always super rough with the men enjoying causing the women pain as a punishment. The dialogue and dirty talk is all from bad porn. The sex is all about the man’s pleasure.
I think it’s all bad fanfiction that has been published into books.
I was told that it’s fiction and I should stop complaining about it. I argued that it perpetuates rape culture by promoting the ideas that women are just holes to be used and abused by men. I said that young women are reading this and it’s dangerous to normalize it for impressionable young women reading this. They know damn well it’s teenage and young women reading this.
It’s so sad that these are all written and read by very young women.
Fanfiction and books used to be my escape but now I see it’s all pornsick. I can instantly tell when a female author watches a ton of porn. It is very obvious in their writing.
