If you guys have been sleeping on "Gideon the Ninth" and "Harrow the Ninth" (book 1 and 2 in "The Locked Tomb" series), please give it a try!

The goodreads links: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42036538-gideon-the-ninth?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=EYEajbYUt1&rank=1

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39325105-harrow-the-ninth?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=dJsyZrAe9z&rank=1

PROS:

Lesbian (yes, biological woman) author

Lesbian main characters (both books)

Butch lesbian MC!!

Funny, clever writing

Complex and fascinating world and plot (especially in book 2)

No trans-identified characters or talk of gender nonsense AT ALL

lesbian yearning!!!

CONS:

It is a trilogy and only 2 books are out

Probably a long wait until book 3

Most fandom spaces for it are full of queer theory / gender nonsense and little girls shipping all the straight background characters and talking about how the butch lesbian MC must be a transwoman, etc

I really need more adult lesbian women friends to read this so we can gush about it and be BFFs, haha.

If you've got this on your To-read shelf, do yourself a favor and give it a read! Also, a lot of gays get pretty upset at the end of book 1. I don't want to spoil anything, but... keep reading. That's all I can say about the "ending" of book 1.

You know who doesn’t do this?

Women.

shewolfoffranceAugust 30, 2024(Edited August 30, 2024)

When TRAs argue that women are defined by experiences, social roles, behaviors, etc., I think of this.

Stealing used women's underwear was part of approximately zero women's formative experiences, but it's essential to (apparently) every AGP's origin story.

pennygadgetAugust 30, 2024

What? You've never met a woman who gets off on sniffing the underpants of teenage boys? /s

EvileineAugust 30, 2024

I just threw up in my mouth, thanks.

when i was younger my brothers friends got drunk and trashed my room smashed my laptop and stole my panties/threw them around my room. and slept in my bed. no one ever got in trouble. my parents didnt even give a fuck. i wish death on anyone who does that shit. its not fucking cute. even if all you do is discreetly steal a pair its not fucking cute and 9/10 times we put the pieces together. even if she has 100 pairs we keep better track of our clothes than you think, ESPECIALLY panties and bras and socks because you notice when you run out of consumables faster than you should.

and goes without saying if youre an adult and do that to a minor you should be jailed predator

That's so gross I'm sorry your family is a bunch of misogynistic assholes. Mine are too

Dressed2K1llAugust 29, 2024

Who refers to their underwear as panties?

This story isn’t passing the sniff test to me

GenevieveAugust 30, 2024

I do. I call them panties when I feel like it.

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024

Did your brother ever “play” with them? Because that’s not something brothers really do…. 👀

Anyway…. I just don’t think this story … is real.

BlukBerryAugust 30, 2024

I can definitely see a bunch of teenage boys trashing a girl's room and desecrating her intimate things. Even if it wasn't the brother touching the underwear, I can easily see some idiot friend thinking it's hilarious to fling it at each other.

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024

Okay but look at your use of language vs the Veganinatalist - you’re using words like “underwear” and “touching” and “intimate things” while this other commenter is concerned with the idea of a bunch of boys rifling through … what… 100 pairs of “panties” of which they know every unique one?

There’s something very fetishistic about this commenters comments generally.

BlukBerrySeptember 5, 2024

I guess time will tell! You may well be right!

i always said "underwear" until i got older and made a female friend who called them "panties", i thought it was cuter and id never heard someone use a word like panties without it sounding cringy, demeaning, sexual etc. i always would have used cutesier words like "panties/nighties" if not for the creepiness of others, so it felt like a weight was lifted.

Having only male friends and brothers, i always tried to be like them and carried a stigma about using "degrading" words like "panties". But i never wanted those words to be considered degrading or worthy of degradation, hatred etc. It felt like female/girly=bad. So it was like reclaiming i guess. i was punched down on for saying anything similar sounding, even when i was literally a small child, like "dollies" "panties" "yummy" or anything "sissy". I used only the kind of words my brothers would approve of and even tried to lower my voice so they'd respect me. So now i use the words i wanted to use before, as a fuck you to the men who used to make me feel bad for it. I try to sound more high pitched too. I dont think of it as "sissy" or "sissifying" anymore, just using the words and voice i like.

im curious to know though, to anyone reading, do you cringe hearing other xxs say "panties"? and is it because of xys or would you hate it regardless?

That’s …. Not how reclaiming words works. And why are you referring to women as xx’s??? 😒 I’m saying it’s weird. And unusual. I might be getting downvoted but … we’ll see …

VegantinatalistAugust 30, 2024

i didnt say it was reclaiming, just that its LIKE reclaiming or something, i dont really know how to phrase it. i took back and continued doing something others made me feel bad for doing.

and idk is it bad to say xx? its less cumbersome than ciswomen or women. girl is degrading to some, female is degrading to some, and personally i hate how women sounds, and i hate that its like "subman" but i also hate womyn and similar words. plus i hate having to switch my language when i talk here vs my gendie coworkers/society. i actually really like saying xx and xy as they sound nicer honestly and they cant be mistaken for gender junk and i think i could still say them to gendie types without offending them if i say it right.

if i were a guy i would just say so. men are allowed on ovarit as the admin states. did you know?

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024

Oh, I know.

horriblegooseAugust 30, 2024

Not sure if it is regional, but I'm from the southern US and every woman I knew while I lived there either called them panties or unmentionables (the latter was mostly elderly women). I never found it odd until I started seeing TIMs latch on to the word.

001HeartAugust 30, 2024

For some reason the word "panties" was cringe to me like the word "moist" is to a lot of people (but I never thought the word "moist" was cringey) and I have no idea why 😂

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024(Edited August 30, 2024)

Yeah I hate it when women call them “panties” because now (although it’s RARELY happened) with the way men have ruined everything, they sound like they’re for children. And the infantilization and sexualization of underwear for girls and women is gross.

It’s too intimate and too sexually charged for conversation. If you were telling a story at work to a bunch of colleagues and you found a pair of women’s “panties” would you say that? Or would you say “underwear?” Because it is less sexually charged?

VegantinatalistAugust 30, 2024

i probably would say panties cause honestly i never thought of the word as being sexual or infantilizing. panties is easier to say than womens underwear. its also specific. womens underwear could be anything from a bodysuit to lingerie. panties is a specific thing. at least thats how i think

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024

Mmmhmmmm 👀

VegantinatalistAugust 30, 2024

i dont get it, do you actually think im a man because i call them panties? this is the first ive ever even heard anyone other than men say panties is a sexual word. im surprised by it

Alias_RosieAugust 30, 2024

I do. Where I'm from, it's just an all-purpose word for underwear, and I use it interchangeably. It's not a weird sexual thing to women where I grew up.

001HeartAugust 30, 2024

Seriously?

Dressed2K1llAugust 30, 2024

Maybe it’s the use of “panties” and the oddity of someone’s brother going through them… something most brothers would sooner fucking die than do.

seems more like a weird fantasy than an actual story by an actual woman.

001HeartAugust 30, 2024

Some brothers molest their sisters; I've seen cases of it. And incest porn/meme's are really popular with teen boys today so I would not be shocked if this was a true story

Committing_TerveryAugust 29, 2024

Why was his post upvoted tho O_o

Ewwwwwwwwww, I don’t want to be on the same planet as these creeps, and no woman or girl should ever have to endure their presence, ughhhhhb

Because reddit

Zoomer Handmaids who've been told through porn that Bitch is empowerfulizing

SadeyedladyAugust 30, 2024

I'm sort of wondering if he lied about that part and actually steals his own daughter's and her friends' underwear. I hope not, and I don't even know if this guy has a daughter, but that just immediately came to my mind.

elvensupremacyAugust 29, 2024

His friend must be delusional. Just looking at him, you can tell he is deranged.

pennygadgetAugust 30, 2024

And THIS is why its so dangerous to socialize women into being handmaidens for these creeps. Assuming he's telling the truth, at least one female friend is stupid enough to let this man in her home and leave him alone long enough to sneak into her daughter’s room (or the laundry room) and steal stuff. We're being groomed to ignore our natural danger radar. And that makes us and our children easy prey for these men
