True crime is a hugely popular genre, with many topics of interest thereof drawing from broad swathes of ideologies and personalities.
I have a personal rule that I don’t listen to true crime podcasts by men. They almost always say something exploitative or nasty at some point. It’s disgusting, especially when much of true crime media is built upon the death/suffering of innocents. It’s imperative to examine why one is interested in true crime and come from a victim advocate standpoint.
I’d like to see a woman-led discussion on true crime and how it relates to daily safety practices and situational awareness, no male sensationalism or nastiness involved.
