Steel(wo)man circle

For those who aren't familiar with the term, steelmanning is the opposite of strawmanning - it's deliberately looking for the best arguments your opponents have to offer, and phrasing them as strongly and sympathetically as possible, before responding to them.

Much as I enjoy circles like TransLogic and Radfemmery, I do worry about us losing our edge and becoming an echo chamber.

Stonewall & co aren't sending charities and politicians the dumbest TRA memes they can find on Twitter. They've got experienced activists writing up their proposals in the most reasonable-looking way they can. I'd like to keep up on what that discourse looks like, because ultimately those are the positions I need to be able to argue against.

And at the risk of getting downvoted, I'll admit that I am always open to learning from people who disagree with me. I'd like a space to discuss the best the other side has to offer, without derailing the much-needed venting, bonding, and organizing spaces that already exist.
