Climate change is not only the greatest looming threat to humanity, but it should be a huge, if not the biggest, concern on the feminist agenda moving forward: women comprise the majority of the world’s poorest, and this is the group most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Furthermore, many of the possible solutions and ideas to tackle climate change involve the liberation of women through education, the provision of birth control, delaying marital age worldwide and uplifting them from poverty so they need not turn to exhausting and scavenging our dwindling natural reserves for sustenance, as the world’s poorest must often sadly do.

Otherwise, the present human exploitation of the natural world, and yet the simultaneous dismissal of nature, is seen by some feminist scholars to bear remarkable similarities to the narratives surrounding female oppression. It would be nice to have a dedicated space to discussing and debating aspects of eco-feminist thought on OvarIt as well.
