A home/ car repair circle for women?
Posted November 19, 2020 by [Deleted] in Circles

The trope, at least in the US, is that women are too fragile/dumb to handle anything remotely manual. As a recent example, I was changing the engine air filter out of my car and a maintenance guy on the property walked up to me going "Whatcha doing there??" When I told him exactly what I was doing and why he responded with "Oh yeah, it's smart to do that." in an exaggerated way. To men, this is being friendly but it's obvious he was concerned I was going to blow up my car.

It would be nice to have a circle for us to discuss things like general repairs without being spoken to like a toddler. In the US, a study has shown that 20% of homeowners are single women- twice as many as single men. If we are supposed to obtain liberation from men, I think life skills must be engrained in women (I have said this about personal finance as well).
