“‘Any Girl’, Mia Döring’s memoir of sexual exploitation and recovery is a massive contribution to the understanding of the reality of the sex industry. It is not a simple misery memoir that lists all the many ways in which she was hurt. It is something much more ambitious and demanding. It isn’t sympathy she wants from us – but rather for us to see the truth in all its cruelty and to resolve to take action to bring about change…”
Thank you for doing this.
I was pro legalization when Ovarit was started. You have opened my eyes
I’m very vocal and out about this and have found it easy to get friends and family on board. Most people aren’t aware of the Nordic model concept or how legalization benefits pimps/johns
That's brilliant! Thank you so much! And keep up the good work!
May I dm you to ask a question for doing more? There is some identifying info
Of course! Please feel free to DM or you can email us at nordicmodelnow@gmail.com.
We are based in the UK and are always looking for new members.
I often get “isn’t it already illegal to seek out sex workers?” And there was an article recently that since prostitution was legalized somewhere in CA, now police can’t “arrest” them as a way to check if they’re ok and find out if a pimp is involved. Idk how much I buy that last one as police to my understanding often just extract sex work as payment for not arresting anyone in the first place.
The point is I have a hard time explaining the Nordic Model to others without any holes in the argument. Although I’ve heard it works very well.
For that one specifically I would look up the stats for your area of how many women are arrested for prostitution vs how many men are arrested for soliciting. You will find that laws are applied overwhelming against prostitutes.
It’s really hard to prove a guy driving slowly is attempting to solicit. He can say he was lost, he can say he was just being a Good Samaritan, giving people rides, looking for his sister, he can even say he was entrapped if it’s a sting. Men who have money for prostitutes have money for lawyers. And more often than not, on a local level, they are allowed to walk out with no record because they are some local official or businessman or etc. If you’re in an area that has raids on “massage parlors” or the like, look up the arrest records and see if any men were arrested in the raid. Usually the cops just tell them all to get out and only arrest the women working and sometimes the owner. Who is usually just a woman set up as the owner on paper, so the men running the trafficking operation can’t get caught. The cops will even brag about all the illegal immigrants they arrested; with no mention of the fact that these women are actually kidnap victims.
But it’s really easy to get a woman who is obviously a prostitute, to admit to it. They can get her on tape stating a price and it’s instant conviction. She has no lawyer money, she has no defense.
Maybe list some of the arguments
Surely you aren’t the only one facing them. Ir would be helpful to all of us
I’m sorry you have some idiots around you!!
Ask them how getting arrested helps. Would they find that helpful or good to have on their record.
Who posts bail? And then knows exactly where/when she is getting released
Do they consider jail a helping hand for everyone or just for prostituted women?
Would they tell a Black man that the system is trying to help him with ‘stop and frisk’, or by pulling him over preferentially, or by arresting him?
First of all, it should be illegal to be a pimp. What does a oimp do except exploit/recruit/etc?
She can hire a bodyguard, a phone service, rent her own space, do her own adds etc.
pimps just create their own job and abuse women to keep it
Nobody should make money except the person selling the service.
