Hey everyone!
I was able to cobble together a way to get to DC for the protest on March 8th. I was wondering if anyone else was going to be there! I've never been able to attend a radical feminist even and I'm beyond excited.
Maybe, I only live about 80 miles away from DC.
I have several friends who are going, but I will sadly be unable to attend (and I’m quite sad about it).
I am hopeful for a large turnout.
I’m still weighing the pros and cons. If we weren’t still in the midst of a pandemic, I’d be there in an instant. One of the things putting me off is the lack of information on the website. I understand the security concerns, however, a public event should have some information available for the public, aside from the city and date of the event. I, also, find the focus on fundraising for unspecified spending off-putting, especially given that the most prominent women promoting the protest have careers and/or paid side-gigs privately teaching “women’s empowerment”. Are they just raising money to pay themselves for picketing? Who knows? They don’t explain.
Yeah the website is really odd. I agree that it's suspicious that the only info is fundraising. I get a lot of people can't go but some people can! What are we supposed to do when we get there?
It's not too far for me and I'm in a safe situation so I feel ok going but the pandemic thing is definitely a major factor. I just realized it was doable today and figured to give it a go. No matter how it turns out, it'll be a good break in the painfully mundane last year.
