As much as I deplore the faux-progressive misogyny that has been bundled with legitimate leftist causes, I'm still here on the left and I'm not going anywhere. The alternative is anti-environment, anti-workers' rights, and anti-reproductive rights. Here in the US, it should be painfully clear that the right is in fact dead serious about forcing women to become and remain pregnant against their will. They are no ally to feminists.

Michelle Evans's view on abortion:

I believe that natural rights begin at conception. With the exception of rare cases, such as those involving life-saving care, abortion should not be an available option and should never be funded by taxpayer dollars. I have worked with children in foster care and families exploring private adoption, and can say with certainty that no child is ever truly "unwanted."

Doubt this woman has ever been on the left...she's also pro-gun and against wind and solar...good goddess.

Yeah, hell no to this shit.

Yeah this whole psyop being pushed to GC women that they should abandon the left and go back to being broodmares for the right wing men who believe big dicked God gave them the divine right to rule the earth is NOT IT. Nothing about being anti-choice is “feminist” at all. Anti-environmentalism is the biggest pet cause of death-loving males who enjoy profiting off the land and destroying it. It reminds me of when working women began to complain about uneven burdens of labor in the early 2000s so now the right wing has been pushing this idea to young girls about “life as an educated working woman is too hard! Just become a submissive trad wife and let your husband rule over you!” It reeks of male infiltration.

Agree...those men actively work to deny the spiritual and philosophical ideal of Mother Earth - treating the earth with the same reverence we should treat women, namely, don't exploit us just because we have the bodies designed for life. Instead, these men destroy and take from the land much like they do to women.

Yet another "WalkAway for Women" type of discussion/event. It's good that the American Left is being held responsible for how it's failed American women. When do we hold the American Right responsible for the ways they've failed, and keep failing, women?

Many feminists today find themselves politically homeless, on account of the left's support for ideology and legislation that runs counter to material reality, civil liberties, free speech, and women's sex-based rights. At the same time, many women don't feel aligned with right wing values either. Beyond that feminists who support free speech, bodily autonomy, and civil liberties have been alientated by a feminist movement invested in politcal purity and allied with political parties that do not represent them.

Good of them to outline the Left's failures clearly. The Right's failures aren't even listed except for the brief nod to bodily autonomy (which has also been a right-wing talking point re: vaccines). Not a word about abortion or reproductive rights. Not a word about "In God We Trust" bills that want to enshrine religion into government, or the crimes conducted in the name of religion or religious "freedom" (so-called freedom which enslaves girls and women).

Women are pawns to these parties. The Left won't define us. The Right will define us as long as they can (ab)use us. It's time for women to walk the fuck away from the Right, too.

and going where? In America, we don't really have options at the moment. This turns me off. Offer a solution to fix the left but don't suggest we go the other direction or the Handmaid version of America is just going to get worse.

I agree, it's an odd framing. If your political opinions haven't changed and they're still on the left of the political spectrum, it's not you who has changed or left anything. It's the political parties that have left you behind.

Agreed. I wish there was a way to form a Women’s Party that had some way of succeeding. Women who lean right are disenchanted from what I’m hearing too. Not having a parliamentary type system works against us even if we could overcome the issues of women still holding very little power in society.

My mom is pretty right-wing and was involved in organizing/fundraising/etc with those representing a right-wing party in our town.

She completely abandoned them because she was horrified at the misogyny and racism. She likes capitalism but not the other garbage associated with the right.

So yeah, even the universally hated right-wing women are uneasy.

DoomedSibylMay 17, 2022

Which means there might be opportunities for women to unite and get some class consciousness. I’ve felt differently about right wing women ever since I read Dworkin’s Right Wing Women.

Agreed.

This is a wannabe self-fulfilling prophecy/propaganda event.

Women have been under attack by wokists claiming to be SJW leftists, starting with the "Karen" bullshit. But then, anyone can plant a flag and claim to represent a movement.

The GOP will not continue to exist if they cannot peel female voters away from Democrats.

ATM, I very much believe that if leftish, GC women continue to make their voices heard and refuse to be silenced on gender woo, the party will work with us.

Nediljka_OrwellMay 17, 2022

That sounds like a great event.

Just having an official panel type discussion like that calls attention to the problem. An important first step. With more popping up around the US maybe Team Donkey would shake itself out of its glitter sprinkled gender stupor and notice that they’re hemorrhaging female voters and decide to change course on that a bit before it’s too late…!

Yeah…. nah. Not likely. But I’d still love to go! How cool would it be to see and hear Megan Murphy?!

I also respect Mary Lou Singleton, but that Michelle Evans...oh hell no. Why would anyone align w/ her? She's never BEEN on the left and she's against wind and solar and she's against abortions.
