I knew this decades ago. I had the misfortune to be in court with anti-abortion terrorists as part of my job (court staff). The ones like Randall Terry and many others that bomb clinics, kill people, commit various forms of malicious mischief and vandalism, and think it's justified. Their lawyers made procedural mistakes because they were so used to criminal court, they didn't know how to act in civil court.
It was traumatizing to be in the same courtroom with these people. I was part of the court staff so tolerating them was part of my job. I am not exaggerating when I call them terrorists. I wish I could have sued them for causing me PTSD.
I saw a woman take the stand and talk about how proud she was of her 21-year-old son, who was serving a long sentence in Federal prison. He was trying to bomb an abortion clinic by placing a bottle of gasoline in the attic. However, he left his wallet at the crime scene, so he was easy to find.
They were being sued by Planned Parenthood and several doctors in civil court, and Planned Parenthood won a civil judgment including damages. The defendants would have gatherings on Sundays at the homes of doctors who performed abortions, plant crosses in their front yards, and be completely disruptive. They passed out flyers with the doctors' home addresses on them. This was before the internet, of course.
Most of the doctors who were plaintiffs, and their attorneys, were Jews. The defendants were all super conservative Christians. This was an undercover religious war dressed up as a civil suit. Defendants can feel like martyrs for the "cause" and raise money from their gullible followers.
The woman who was the judge presiding at trial lost her job over this case. She was replaced with a rightwing conservative white man, who just could not understand why he couldn't put up the Ten Commandments in his courtroom.
Now that we are close to an election, the networks are forced to run an ad produced by Randall Terry and to state that 1) we were forced to run this ad by the Feds; and 2) These images may be upsetting to some viewers.
Yeah, he's still a shithead.
I don't want to insult actual pieces of shit (Which are useful because they have nutrients to make plants grow) by making any comparisons here, though.
