Hello there... Having spent many hours over the past year walking my dog, thinking I had good shoes for it, I now have some foot pain, which I think is plantar fasciitis! I had it once before after a long trip to Disneyland, where I spent multiple hours on my feet. While I can't do this in the summer where I live I was thinking of using the winter months to walk barefoot or semi-barefoot. (I live in the desert southwest in an urban environment, so I think it would be manageable on many days). I have also been looking at this concept of "grounding" or "earthing" and I wonder if it has any merit. Do any of you walk barefoot, or semi-barefoot, or use those shoes that look like big rubber feet? (For lack of a better description!)
Update: I reviewed the advice here and after doing more research I ended up getting a pair of Birkenstocks and I'm in the process of breaking them in. I think some foot and arch support is helping with the plantar fasciitis too. I will consider getting a pair of the barefoot shoes in the future. Thank you for all the advice!
Fantastic! Wonderful! Thank you!
Although this may trigger a pile-on, I would like to ask those who don't want their posts to be included in the archives to reconsider, if those requests stand in the way of archiving Ovarit. Here's why:
Ovarit is a valuable part of feminist history and we want it to be available online forever.
We all posted here, under handles that we chose, and let our posts sit here on a website that anyone in the world could see for years and years. Why would we backtrack on that decision now? What's the difference between the world seeing your post on ovarit.com or seeing it on ovarit-archive.com?
If you really, truly don't want your posts visible on ovarit-archive.com, you still have a month to go back through the site and delete them all. Please do not place that burden on someone else's shoulders.
But if the archive's 90% complete, it's too late?
Yeah I'm just gonna have to rerun a lot of it to make sure any deletions are not included.
