Advice wantedHow to be fit as a narcoleptic?
Posted December 7, 2023 by Persepolis in Fitness

Hello ladies. I'm someone who has always wanted to become so strong that I could potentially pick up the front of a car someday (in the event that I'd ever need to do something like that), and so in 2022 I tried to have a personal trainer. Everything was great on day one, but after that, I hardly ever came back for workouts. I really wanted to try, but I was so exhausted that I could hardly even wake up, let alone actually go out to do gym workouts.

I got tested for sleep apnea in 2020 and it came back negative, but now it's 2023 and after trying to understand the cause of my horrible sleep curse, I've come to the realization that I might have had undiagnosed and improperly treated narcolepsy this entire time. My solutions for the sleepiness have been an SSRI and an Antipsychotic, but with time those always fail me. So, I have good days where I'm wakeful during the day, but I also have bad days where I'm sleeping the entire day away until I either have work or have to force myself to stay awake (which usually only lasts about an hour before I fall back asleep).

I'm currently trying to get a sleep study done to check for narcolepsy, but in the meantime, I still want to try being more healthy or active if at all possible.

If anyone has any experience with narcolepsy and fitness, can you tell me how you (or someone you know) make it work? Thank you very much in advance.
