I had been super sedentary and out of shape, but I have an upcoming trip, so I recently found the motivation to do 30 minutes of daily cardio on an indoor exercise bike.
I just hit day 31! And now I actually kind of look forward to cardio instead of dread it
My goal is to get back into working out 3x a week. I’ve left my CrossFit gym and joined a global gym. I haven’t been yet as my anxiety over new places has kicked in
Still not been to that darned gym but have dug out my running shoes and started training for a 10km race in March. Haven’t run consistently in months but 4 runs back and I’m somewhere near where I was when I was more consistent in October last year!
I started a training plan for a full marathon in April. I do a lot of half marathons, but I haven't done a full in 8 years. I attempted a second marathon about 7 years ago, but pulled a hamstring on mile 4 and have stuck with half marathons and triathlons since. I might wait and see how training goes before I sign up for my planned race.
During ski season playing in the snow is my first priority but my goal the next few months is to try to get into the gym once a week and keep my strength up on the barbell lifts, as well as keeping the flexibility to do them.
My fitness goals for January are to keep doing daily physical therapy for my hip pain and tennis elbow, and to focus on short cardio "exercise snacks" on my indoor bike throughout the day.
I'm going to continue with my body weight/dumbbell workouts while it's still really cold and until I can get fitted for running shoes. I also want to play Just Dance a couple of times a week because I had forgotten how much FUN that is and it's great cardio.
I'm planning to register and train for a half marathon that will take place in the fall. I did this back in 2020 but ended up having a scheduling conflict and couldn't complete the race even though I had trained pretty consistently. Having a race on the calendar was a really good motivator for me and hopefully better shoes will solve some of the issues I faced before (some knee and hip pain on one side of my body).
Goals: I really need to work on my posture. My gait is all wrong; I have very poor balance, and as I'm almost sixty, it seems past time to address this before I have a fall and/or my spinal arthritis gets worse. I'm doing some exercises to help with anterior pelvic tilt/lordosis. I worked hard for months and corrected my posture once before; then I lost all that progress when my mom died and COVID hit. (I didn't give a damn about standing up straight.)
Boast: Slowly, over the past two years, I have lost all the weight I needed to lose, which was fifty pounds. This wasn't an act of willpower; I got a job that requires me to be on my feet all day. Still pretty happy about it.
