Looking for PlayersPikmin Bloom (walking "game" for Android/Apple smartphones)
Posted July 11, 2024 by eyeswideopen in Games

I've been trying to increase my daily step count this summer and I came across a mildly entertaining way to gamify my walking: Pikmin Bloom

Basically you grow flowers and "pikmin" toons as you walk and then have battles with mushrooms. There's no PVP, just PVE. It's a pretty relaxing way to get your steps in. You can also hide your "home" location from anyone you join on walking challenges (everyone on your team tries to hit a combined 100k (or 30k) step total for the week) or joint walks (the latter are just invitation only walks you can send to anyone you like).

If anyone wants to give it a try, let me know and I will send you an invite code for a joint walk with me via Ovarit DM.

I love the Pikmin games. But I've never tried Bloom. I may give it a shot now that you've recommended it

It's quite enjoyable/low stress if you're looking for something to gamify your walking or steps for the day. Also requires less looking at your phone than something like Pokémon Go.

A good place to find friends to help you defeat mushrooms is the subreddit

That's good to know. I do all of my walks with my toddler. So I can't have my face buried in the phone. LOL

I’m housebound but used to get my partner to take my phone out for the step counts 🤣. I love Pikmin Bloom but haven’t played it in over a year now. It’s hard when you’re not able to walk much as it gets repetitive, sadly.

Have you joined the global Facebook Pikmin Bloom group? That’s a good place for finding new players (and it’s only game focused!)

I'm not on Facebook unfortunately, but thank you for letting me know about the group there. I hope your health and mobility improves (and not just because it would be fun to virtually walk with you).

I try to make a general habit of leaving my phone at home when I walk places and/or run errands that don't explicitly require the phone, so I'm afraid this isn't going to work for me—but perhaps You'll find like-minded others here.

I'm mostly posting to let You know that Your Pikmin Bloom link in the text of the post just loops right back to this thread, rather than leading to a link for the game itself as presumably intended.

Thanks so much for the heads up. I'll fix the link!
