Hullo!
Does anyone else would like to join an animal crossing group? I was planning on making a discord group, or something like that. Just for us ladies. My daughter is on the server so I just don't want to join any groups that have creeps in it.
Unless someone else already has a group running?
she would "follow the law"
I'm sick of this cop out by TRA politicians. Colin Allred pulled this as well.
There has been no legislation passed by Congress mandating titty skittles for TIMs in prisons (or placing them in women's prisons). This is all on the Biden administration, which Harris is a part of, and it annoys me that it sounds like Baier didn't call her out on it, that, since almost all of this is executive branch orders, rule changes, or decisions not to challenge lawsuits up to SCOTUS, then it's up to her what happens regarding this issue if/when she's sworn in.
"Follow the law", my ass. What law?
"Follow the law", my ass. What law?
The law(s) her administration plans on creating. Changes to Title IX was probably just a warmup.
I disagree vehemently with Democrats on this issue. I will continue to fight after the election for Democrats (people in general really) to end the trans cult stranglehold on instituitons and laws.
I will send my donations to WoLF, because they are fighting this insanity in the courts and by working with lawmakers to make progress removing men from women's spaces, no matter who wins the election.
But I will vote for her and hold my nose. The alternative is terrifying,.
100%. I thought I couldn't dislike Trump more, but Vance has been very open about how he feels about us childless (dog) ladies and how little we're worth compared to the rest of the country...I think I hate him more. I hope he loses and goes back to Peter Thiel with his tail between his legs and snot/eyeliner running down his face.
As a cat/dog lady who’s single, celibate, post-menopausal and terminally ill I hate to think where Vance would place my value.
Really wish Trump had picked Nikki Haley or Tulsi Gabbard rather than that creep
I always assume Peter Thiel and JD Vance have some kind of down-low sugar-daddy relationship…
JDV has spoken offensive words. Trump placed the Dobbs judges. He was found responsible for sexually assualting a woman and insinuated that other men are welcome to do so as well.
Yes. But Vance’s words will translate to actions if he is elected into office.
I get your point. What I don’t understand is your need to vocalize that you will vote for her. This is why nothing changes because women are so quick to shout they will vote for her despite this, making the democrats less likely to take this issue seriously. Men and Muslims Americans have emcee their voices heard, perhaps we should try that. Why can’t women do the same? I for one will not vote for her because they refused to take us seriously.
Elections are the means the public has to hold our representatives accountable. If we refuse to hold them accountable on Election Day, then when? What incentive do our representatives have to change if they know that they will suffer no loss votes or consequences for their bad platform?
That’s exactly the point I was making! Women can’t expect democrats to abolish gender ideological stances when they proudly vocalize that they will vote for them whether they do or not. It’s foolish.
This is why nothing changes because women are so quick to shout they will vote for her despite this, making the democrats less likely to take this issue seriously
I agree with you on this sentiment. I don't see Democrats changing anything until they hurt badly. There are plenty of billionaires backing GI and willing to wait out opposition, all while they push for changing the laws beneath us. It really does feel hopeless. Even IF a majority of people are against this, even if Trump wins. there's still some major things to set in motion and damage to be repaired (Eg. Title IX). It will be the same 1000+ years war over abortion and likely even longer than that. They tell you anything you want to hear and not actually do a thing. But do vote them every single time or else "democracy."
Donald Trump is their very best ally in all of this. They are likely on the hunt for the next candidate just like him or worse. I refuse to vote for either one of them. And if I was in a state that mattered the answer would be the same.
I am reminded of something my mother use to always say... A house divided cannot stand.
Abortion was a done deal once it went to the states. You won't get that back on a federal level. Now it has to be legalized in each state. Congress won't touch it.
Oh I'm sure that the GOP could conjure up a way to ban abortion on the Federal level.
The GOP is actually happily passing this issue onto the states because they found out it's an elections killer. To take it up again would be the equivalent to political suicide. DT gave them an out and they've been rushing to embrace it. JD Vance literally perfected how to answer when they're asked about abortion. Even the national anti-abortion orgs are coming to terms they need to meet the people where they are. Only the most extreme far right states and districts are still able to hold on to this issue.
I’m still considering leaving the presidential portion blank and voting the down ticket. Still a waste of time in many ways in my LDS controlled state. I don’t want to vote for either presidential pairing. But I fear that this will just be an empty gesture.
I've never done anything but vote blue in the past. So I am unfamiliar with things like this. I fear leaving the presidential section blank will allow someone to write in an answer for me. So I am going to look up how to do a 'write in' and choose someone else (JK Rowling, etc).
As for any other people down the ticket. I will still look at them closely and do my best to pick the least damaging people. Its hard to judge because so many of them are mum on the subject. And so many of them don't even have profiles or campaigns either way. Its always been frustrating.
No matter what I don't think this is an empty gesture. I believe there's more of us than we realize. We won't turn the election but it will be a message to people who look at these things in great detail.
Im surprised that you feel the need to look up that process. On my ballots, there is always a clear "fill in the blank" option.
I don't remember what it looks like. All the past times I voted it was straight down the blue ticket and I was out. I'll trust that there is a blank for me to write something in. And I'll make sure its in pen not pencil.
Edit: Oh yea I always seem to forget my glasses. Voting was something I'd always do late after work and one or two times I almost forgot. I've had to use the magnifying glasses they provide there. So I wasn't looking at the sheet over all.
So what should we do when both candidates are awful? When there isn’t a viable third option? What can we do to make our voices heard in that women don’t like misogyny whether the method of oppression is liberal or conservative?
Truly asking because I’ve been wracking my brain for something women could actually do to make our voices heard. The only thing I could think of is a well organized write in campaign that was well publicized but it’s too late for that. We would also need someone to write in. There are many women here who feel politically homeless but I guess we aren’t yet to the tipping point where women are United enough to do anything. Thank you fake liberal feminism, wokism, trans propaganda and female socialization.
I hate to say this, but what we should have done, (and I say done in past tense because it is too late now), is make them work for our votes. We now see Kamala and the democrats rolling out plans for black men and men in general because men are organized and stood their grounds. I suggested doing an uncommitted Campaign, and many women were terrified it would loose Kamala votes, but the goal was to get the democrats ear. they were too shortsighted to see that this was the election to get their ear on this issue.
What did we do on the other hand? Many women here gaslit other women who said they would not vote for her due to gender ideology. Many continued to vocalize their support, despite the fact. So I ask you, why would they listen to us, when they know they have our votes? We played into their plans on using abortion as a dangling tool to get our votes, and they ignored the gender issue in every debate. Women were played like fools and the majority of women here don’t see that.
We made a foolish mistake, and if Kamala wins it will be even harder to be rid of the gender ideology nonsense because not them but WE avoided the issue. This was the election to get them to listen to us. I don’t think it’s that women aren’t united enough, I just think that we lack strategy and we are disorganized. If gender ideology is abolished it will not be because of women voting for Kamala and then advocated for its abolishment, but it will be because of men (this may be hard for some to take in) and conservative women who actually stood their ground.
Women showing their hand early, repeatedly, means we can be counted on for votes no matter what the Dems decide to do. And that means we get nothing of what we want.
I think women do this as a kind of female method for trying to convince others, which includes some social shaming. I'm voting for /whatever/, you need to join us to be a good person. Practically every Kamala stan argues I'm part of the problem if I don't vote for her, that I'm part of the problem if I won't pledge my vote now. I'm voting Saturday, early, still have no idea what my Presidential vote will be. This means I'm open to hearing opinions for either side, and potentially my reticence could make it up the chain to change policy, but I'm receiving quite a lot of shaming for not getting with the program.
As someone who is not voting for Harris, the absolute bottom line is that I'm not voting for another four years of this shit. The Biden Administration had three years to prove they could do a better job than the Republicans and they blew it. They haven't done one single thing to earn my vote. Yes, earned. A lot of people, the Democratic Party most of all, have forgotten that votes are earned, not owed to them. It's long past time to remind them.
I agree! I’ve seen many of them gaslight women or try to silence them when the women say they aren’t voting for Kamala. They act the same way they accuse other people of acting, ironically. I say vote on the policies not the person. I can’t tell you to choose one side or the other, but vote on the policies. Which has a longer term impact? Which one has the potentiality of being easily addressed.
When there isn’t a viable third option?
Voting third party is strategic in the long-term.
No, it won’t get the person elected this term, but it has the effect of pushing the Dems/Reps (whoever is losing voters to the third party) to adjust their positions so that they’re more appealing to the voters that they are bleeding.
Most importantly, it raises the platform of the third party, increasing their chances of appearing on ballots across the country next time and increasing their funding. This is the ONLY way that we escape this stupid lesser-of-two-evils battle that we’ve been stuck in for the last many elections.
If only there was a third party that I wanted to champion in a long term strategy. But again, I’m coming up dry. I’m not sure our individual votes matter that much in the grand scheme. Look how many women here have said that they already know how their state’s electoral votes will go.
I really like your idea in theory. We would have to be organized. We would have to have a party worth elevating and we would have to be working strategically towards a goal.
If only there was a third party that I wanted to champion in a long term strategy
For most people there won't ever be one. The media will always vilify that person into the ground. And people who don't have much energy or time for politics will fall for it. In the end it seems people would rather fall into the 2 party trap set out for them.
Because there are two choices. Both are bad. One is overwhelmingly worse for almost all people on the planet, especially women.
The shit JD Vance says is absolutely terrifying for women.
Not voting for one side IS voting for the other side in our current system.
The shit JD Vance says is absolutely terrifying for women.
What has you so terrified? His sarcasm certainly went awry but why did it terrify you? Frankly he values family life and families. It's almost as though some people consider raising a family or giving birth is against womanhood.
Vance has changed his tune about abortion. He is now saying that he is satisfied that it went to the states. But it doesn't matter what he believes, because it has gone to the states, and now you have to deal with each state law. States rights take precedent when it comes to anything medical, age of consent laws, border issues. The federal Government can't do a thing about it. JD Vance cannot make laws against states that have legalized abortion.
I'm a single cat lady. Plan to stay that way.
JD Vance has said he wants a national abortion ban. He's said he is concerned about the population replacement rate (read between the lines on that one.) He wants to track pregnant women across state lines. Abortion is my #1 issue and it will always be.
All people on the planet? Come on.
The trump campaign does not believe in climate change. Yes, everyone on the planet.
Corporations need regulations or we're gone.
Fair enough. Although reality is China will doom the climate way before anything Trump does will. Trump doesn't even come close comparing to China being the cause of climate apocalypse.
Amen to this!! People in the West don't generally realize how horrid the air quality is in places like China, India and Pakistan, or that China alone is responsible for about 30% of greenhouse gas emissions.
I totally agree. It makes me so ill that the Dems are trampling over women’s rights this way.
Yet I voted for Harris. The alternative makes me want to vomit bile. Unfortunately, I think he may win 🤢
I’ve been skipping the propaganda and watching the Vegas odds makers for numbers. Trump has pulled ahead in the last couple of weeks.
I think we’re in very dark times no matter who is elected.
I’m surprised he’s pulled ahead given his bullshit since Kamala entered the race. Spewing conspiracy theories on live television, to his clear decline in cognitive ability…
Oh agreed a million percent. But I was surprised back in the 2016 primaries that he was running. Then I felt the intuitive inevitability of his election. People who lived in the East during the eighties and nineties are still shocked. His reputation isn’t good at all. Now I live among people who honestly believe that he’s for the common man. I don’t entirely understand it either.
Yes, Harris is wrong on this issue.
Given that she is the candidate not openly announcing an intention to sic the US military on anybody who disagrees with her agenda, I am confident that if someone cares about this issue and wishes to see real progress made in the next 4 years then Harris is still the one to vote for. But if you really think the guy who has personally raped multiple women would be a better executive to have during our fight for women's rights then go off I guess.
Not the rapist.
Also not the one with dementia who will probably get 25th and replaced with Vance, the guy who thinks the handmaid's tale is a policy manual.
Also not the one who overturned RvW.
Pick your battles people. This is not the one.
I am picking my battles and I have come to the opposite conclusion on who to vote for. Abortion rests with the states now, so that is not a factor in my vote. We have several battles to fight. My hill is not your hill. Please stop lecturing others on who to vote for.
Also not the one with dementia who will probably get 25th and replaced with Vance, the guy who thinks the handmaid's tale is a policy manual.
Also a good point. The GOP is happy to "support" sex-segregated prisons, all while working to make sure every single female citizen of the USA is instead a prisoner in her own home so her male owner can have access to her in any way he wishes at any time of his choosing. The fuck do they care about the tiny percentage of women in prisons? Their goal is to remove a woman's right to escape men ever, in any way.
Here's another sf scenario: Men hunting down women to take their uteruses. according to google AI
"Yes, it's possible that men may be able to get pregnant in the future through uterine transplants and other emerging technologies"
The national guard and the military have been called in during riots going back to the 1960s. Some think that the national guard should have been called in much earlier in Minneapolis by Walz and this was a serious failure on his part.
When does someone become an accomplice? Harris stance on transgender rights has lead to the rapes of women in prisons. If she continues to push changes to Title IX this is a guarantee that more girls will be raped. Someone who pretends to stand for women's rights while stabbing them in the back is in my mind a great pretender.
When does someone become an accomplice? Harris stance on transgender rights has lead to the rapes of women in prisons. If she continues to push changes to Title IX this is a guarantee that more girls will be raped.
Its okay that they'll get raped because Harris will graciously permit them to have abortions if their TIM cellmate gets them pregnant! Isn't that wonderful?
/s
I’m in a solid red state so my vote won’t count toward the electoral votes for my state. Either way I’m voting against women I fear.
I’m probably going to hold my nose and vote for Harris because Trump/Vance is just too horrifying. I realized something trying to research Harris and her policies. I have absolutely no sense of who she is as a person. Not a single thing positive or negative. It’s like she’s Vice President Barbie. Trump otoh I have too much of a sense of who he is: rapist, grifter, dishonest businessman. I lived in the East for most of my adult life and knew a couple people who unhappily did business with him. He really doesn’t pay his bills and does cheat individuals and other businesses.
Can't say you're entirely wrong, but I would point out that there are Republican run states where rape is de facto legal. South Carolina does not require rape kit testing, collection, or inventorying. I would argue that rapists being in the wrong prison is not worse than rapists never being sent to prison at all.
While I obviously want a state to do rape kit testing and imprison convicted rapists — you really think it’s at all defensible to say you’re OK with rapists being housed with an imprisoned female population?
Like, why would you even attempt to defend that? You can be against being too lenient in catching and prosecuting sex crimes and also not want men in women’s prisons because it’s a bunch of sex crimes waiting to happen.
Not defending it. I'm saying I want rapists in prison instead of them knowing full well they can rape and never even be arrested.
And yeah, duh - I want none of this to happen. I want rapists in prison, specifically men's prison.
Here's the part you missed: if I have to choose between rapists in women's prison or no rapists sent to prison at all, I choose to send rapists to prison. Guess what? Right now, this election, those are the choices.
The national guard and the military have been called in during riots going back to the 1960s. Some think that the national guard should have been called in much earlier in Minneapolis by Walz and this was a serious failure on his part.
I ask this in genuine curiosity: Do you watch a lot of Newsmax or Fox News? Because I keep seeing this talking point in like the last three days or so, and I can only assume it's because the propaganda machine has settled on it as the way to deal with Trump's open declaration that he will use the military to enforce dictatorship, but I'm low-key interested in tracing this tactic back to the source.
Actually I would need a full quote with context about how Trump said he was going to "enforce a dictatorship using the military" Primary sources are important. 7 in 10 Americans don't trust the media and they are right to do so. And too, many people simply follow headlines nowadays and believe what they read. I read the NYTimes every morning, Skim AP news, and I read the NY Post a bit. Do you think that because you read left wing news exclusively or watch MSNBC that you are getting a full picture of what's going on?
He said it in a Fox News interview with Maria Bartiromo. The relevant clip is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfSAOPPSYC8 (this is a Guardian clip because I don’t have time to look through it on Fox, but you’re free to do so if you think the Guardian is not reliable)
So you have paraphrased this in your mind and translated his ramblings for yourself to mean he said "enforce a dictatorship using the military" In reality he did not say this. I don't like what he said but yes he is complaining about people in government. One thing that is becoming increasingly clear is how corporate America owns and controls politicians and their advisors.
Just to clarify, that wasn’t my phrase.
But nor is this the first time he has said things like this. Taken all together, especially in the context of a man who at the very least, encouraged a group to invade the Capitol and attempt to stop the ratification of the previous election, a man who frequently expresses his admiration and envy of world leaders who are effectively dictators…it takes some creativity of mind to believe he does not mean that he would like to turn guns on his political opponents. And of course this is only one of the many violent and anti-democratic sentiments Trump expresses with increasing vehemence and incoherence.
You may wish to risk the future of the Republic on the possibility that he doesn’t really mean to impose a dictatorship. I do not, and I fervently hope enough Americans agree with me to keep him from returning to the White House.
The choice is between an insidious cult ideology with a president who has been complict with the spying and censoring efforts of the Biden administration or a hectoring politician who is not bought by corporate America and will not force Americans to yield to transgender supremacy demands. The polls change from one day to the next but there is something very unreal about Harris. She believes in shape shifting and seems to want to shift herself. Americans sense this.
There is also something unreal about the media's drumbeat that Trump will destroy America. He won't have the military and the only demonstrators at this time are anti-Jewish. The election will likely be a mess but it has happened before. If Trump was elected and both houses of congress were Republican majorities what then do you think would happen? We need an effective government but haven't had one under Biden/Harris so what next?
Trump can't destroy America. That is just propaganda. We have two other branches of government that have just as much power as the executive branch, plus the military brass hates him, so he can't do much. He can talk, but the Congress will impeach him again. It will be 4 years of the two sides screaming at each other and a lot of TDS on the democratic side, but he will be finally gone, in 2028. He cannot run again. I'm still much more afraid of Harris.
Genuinely asking, what makes you afraid of Harris? Is it only the TRA and transhumanist agenda or are there other things?
That and the border and she seems like she doesn't know what she is doing. Can't answer questions that are not scripted. She claims she can bring down inflation but thinks she can do it without a vote in congress. Gets angry when she is questioned. Pushing for men to be women is so ridiculous, it is so absurd. Anyone who believes this is frankly a little nuts. She is a 50+ woman that should know how dangerous it is to put women in danger by allowing sexual perverts in places where women are vulnerable. I am not voting. I Can't vote for Trump either.
"turning guns on his political opponents" - you're talking about either private assassins or a military coup. The former, while it could happen, likely would just escalate in both directions and quickly fizzle when it becomes obvious no one wins. The latter, our military is quite steadfast in staying very firmly outside of elections and governing in general.
Trump's a narcissistic blowhard, but I don't think he's actually capable of turning all or even most of the wheels of government to his will. While Vance may have authoritarian dreams, if he ascended to Pres he'd still be a puppet as he's way too inexperienced. With internal roiling of power in the Republican party there's no guarantee the Heritage Foundation will get all or even most of its precious Agenda 25 either before everything falls apart in another many-multiple candidates campaign cycle.
These too are not risks I am prepared to take, and I struggle to understand why anyone would.
I want to scare the bejeezus out of the Democratic Party. I want to scare them into taking another tack. I'm willing to withold any guarantee of a vote to see them sweat. So many things women bring up here on Ovarit I will remember and consider at the voting booth, and voting for Harris is still a realistic option right now. But before then I have a tiny opportunity to make them blink, for them to understand they are on notice.
It's only fair after years of loyalty, an entire lifetime of it, only for them to stab women in the back.
It won't make them sweat. A person who doesn't vote is just written off as apathetic.
I didn't say I won't vote at all. And when people show discomfort and uncertainty about their vote, the Dems do jump. But it does have to be enough people. The Dems are not our Friends, it's a political party, but we potentially have the pull to make them work a wee bit to secure our votes. It's a shame most women are so loyal they'll let the Dems walk all over them. They not only won't show skepticism of Dems but will harangue other women that are using this strategy to get what they want out of the Dems. Don't be a lackey for the Dems, they won't return the favor.
Which party will return the favor, exactly? I'm not a lackey, just trying to be a pragmatist and vote for the least overall harmful outcome. Throwing my hands in the air and not choosing is not how to do that.
If the Democrats lose, they may finally change their ultra progressive platform and listen to people. It might give them a wake-up call. Most democrats are much more moderate than the party is now.
I'm sorry I can't explain my strategy any better. I'm not throwing my hands in the air. The "favor" is that you're assuming Dems won't abjectly forget about any promises they've made to women. You're assuming they won't take on political stances that are actually bad for women. But they've shown they're quite likely to do just that.
Of course you should vote strategically (or pragmatically, as you say), of course you should think about the least worst option, of course you should consider your state's contribution to the Electoral College and the likely way it will go in this round, and apply that at the voting booth. But before then, why hand the Dems any guarantees? As we have seen with the media-observed reticence of black men, the Dems are paying attention and are responsive to uncertain loyalty.
Same. Hinging on a lot of hope that all the things T/V say they'll do they just... won't do. But Harris definitely will do everything she says that we disagree with? Be consistent at least.
Oh please! See real progress in the next four years, you say that so confidently. If we care about this issue then Trump would be the one to vote for as we’d be more likely to see the progress. I get why you don’t want to vote for Trump, but please don’t act like we will be seeing reall progress in the next four years with Kamala who doubled down on her support for these men.
If Trump gets elected, couldn’t that potentially rally pro-TRAs into having renewed “woe is me we are being persecuted” zeal that would fall flat and peter out under Kamala? Just a thought I haven’t seen explored yet on ovarit
ETA: under Kamala, more sunlight would fall on the issue by virtue of it being a priority of her administration. This could accelerate its demise as people realize the insanity of it. Under Trump, suppressing and outlawing it could just be reversed by the next liberal president and the people’s minds wouldn’t be changed on the issue. This is what I am wondering
I had that concern at first, but I think it’s better if we stop it now than waiting a few years. it will be much harder to get rid of it in the future. If Trump won, it would set them back, and that would also make it harder for democrats to start pushing this nonesense again because hey would realize it wasn’t a popular tactic. If they get elected despite it, then I’m sorry but be battle will be harder. There is a reason why they are so quiet about it.
[Democrats] would realize it wasn’t a popular tactic
I could see this happening too, and I do hope it would in that case. I feel like it’s hard to predict though, because don’t they have polls and numbers already showing them that it’s not a popular position even among democrats? I guess you’re saying that only once they face defeat in the polls would they decide to take it seriously, because currently they assume they’re such an obvious choice that people won’t abstain just because of this one issue. I see it, I see it 🧐
If I’m being honest with you, I think Trump is going to win this time anyway, but not much to do other than wait and see
Yes, but the worry is, “can we still win even if it isn’t a popular tactic. If so, then let’s keep doing what we are already doing”. We need to show them, no, they can’t win with these views. We saw Alred already try to change his position, even though he voted for the equality act and his response was vague, it’s a good example of highlighting that they do crumble under pressure.
Fucking thank you
I should add that I totally get the fury at having to "vote the lesser of two evils" yet again. I am sick to fucking death of it, myself, and I was legitimately considering not voting for Biden (leaving President blank entirely). If that's where someone is coming from then fine, don't vote for the presidency if you really cannot stomach it, but fucking VOTE DOWN THE REST OF THE BALLOT.
I hate our legislative branch and the stupid two-party system but it's what we fucking have and the stupid reality is that we have one party that literally campaigns on "we want to destroy government entirely" and the other party cannot do a goddamn thing as long as the We Hate Governing party holds numbers in Congress.
Even if you fucking hate the actual agenda of the Democrats I think there's an argument to be made for the fact that they at least want to govern, and the alternative is people who want government to cease to exist so that oligarchs don't have to bother with paperwork before they suck up every resource on the planet.
TL;DR: If you are interested in seeing your government represent your interests and welfare, I strongly suggest voting for people who at least agree with the existence of government.
You and I are absolutely vibing, this is right where I'm at. For the first time in my life I'm living in a state that really matters for the electoral college, so I'm taking it very seriously. I love this country. I grew up here and have seen many parts of our beautiful landscape. I've met a lot of good people and my family are here. I'm voting for the party who doesn't want to tear it all down for personal gain.
electrical college
I know this was most likely a typo, but it was unexpectedly funny
I live in a solidly blue state. So I can comfortably ignore the POTUS part of the ballot and vote local
I hate our legislative branch and the stupid two-party system but it's what we fucking have and the stupid reality is that we have one party that literally campaigns on "we want to destroy government entirely" and the other party cannot do a goddamn thing as long as the We Hate Governing party holds numbers in Congress.
It's a real concern but once there did seem to be a real commitment by Democrats to protect the elderly, the economically disadvantaged, and people with ongoing health problems. Now it seems like smoke and mirrors and though Biden and Harris have doled out funds from our taxers to certain groups, the middle class is struggling to pay for health care and food.... The "We Hate Governing" party is more of the libertarian bent isn't it? Though my vote won't count and I plan to write in a candidate, did the world end when Trump was president before?
Almost.
Don't you remember Weird Al Yankovic singing "Please Don't Nuke Us, North Korea"?
More to the point, our democracy almost did. Trump led an insurrection because he lost.
did the world end when Trump was president before?
Women lost our rights to our bodies because of him. And he tried to overturn the election. It is that bad, yes
It wasn't trump. The Republican Party has been planning getting rid of abortion since long before trump. McConnell was the one who put the Supreme court justices in. He was the one that picked them.
The whole party is the issue, then 🤷
Yes, they have been for a long time. They have wanted to get rid of abortion since Roe V Wade was legalized. They were laying in wait.
He was only able to do that because Trump was in office. But sure, Trump had nothing to do with it🙄
Trump watched TV for most of his presidency, while the republicans ran things. Trump is too dumb to understand how anything in Washington works. They had to draw pictures in his briefings that he would not read. People give him way too much credit.
Of course that Trump is dumb, why does that mean a secondo presidency wouldn't be a complete disaster??? Also, he is actually racist and he actually tried to overthrow an election, this stuff is his own doing
McConnell wouldn't let Obama pick a justice because the excuse was it was too close to an election. Obama should have insisted on picking a justice. McConnell is behind most of the hard right republican platform, he is Evil and smart enough to get things done. He has always been far more dangerous than Trump ever was. Trump just goes along with what he is told. As long as he can grift some money and play golf, he doesn't care about the rest of it. Trump is just a figurehead. Fortunately, McConnell is retiring, so the closet case will be gone. Yeah, he got kicked out of the military for sodomy. Nothing wrong with being gay, but he was against gay rights. He has always been open about wanting to ban abortion.
He has always been far more dangerous than Trump ever was.
Yet, he wouldn't have been able to do anything if Trump wasn't president. And him retiring is no solace. At least he's not a hardcore MAGA. The cultists coming after him are even worse, because they don't even believe in democracy
He was able to keep a democrat from picking an SC judge, and he blocked all of Obama's picks for circuit court judges. He is considered an obstructionist. Look him up. He is the longest running senator in KY's history.
Again, if Trumper wasn't president, those justices wouldn't have been appointed. End of story. And there are many other bad people in the Republican party willing to do the work Trump is too lazy to. Project 2025 has this exact purpose.
TBH, I can't be too mad at McConnell over Merrick Garland. He's tried to cram down a lot of trans stuff as the head of the DOJ - everything from trying to force states like Tennessee to give puberty blockers for kids to putting bio males in women's prisons.
At least I can hope that he would be gone under either potential president. One definitely would (Trump), and he probably would be under Harris, as she decides who she will put in her Cabinet. I don't think she'd keep all of Biden's picks, especially for a plum spot like DOJ.
If he would have made it to the Supreme Court instead, he'd have been able to inflict a lot of damage to women by white knighting for the trans cult, potentially for the rest of his life.
But the point is that McConnell was an Obstructionist and has been since 1985. He wouldn't vett most of Obama's circuit court judges. He had more power than the president. He was also the longest running senator in Ky. There should be a time limit on career politicians. He also got rid of Kennedy under strange circumstances. Blackmailed him for something. If garland was allowed and Kennedy had not retired when he was forced to, we would still have abortion.
Trump was a pro-choice democrat until he got pissed at Obama for insulting him. He ran on the Republican ticket, but being on the republican ticket, he had to switch. (He has never had any real convictions) but he was never a radical like McConnell was. He is a showman who is addicted to attention, and once he got into office he loved the attention. He doesn't believe anything he says, he just says whatever rolls off his tongue.
I feel like there is a creepy aspect of using inmates for experimental surgeries/medical practices too. Sure, these guys want it, but they're also insane. It's not ethical to do that, and them being prisoners makes it even less ethical (before we get to the idea of taxes paying for it even). I think this has potential to be a disturbing slippery slope. It's not like it'd be the first time incarcerated people would be medically experimented on.
It still blows my mind where we are at now. Democrats are not trying to hide it. There's no apologies either. And they certainly aren't asking for our permission. Just vote for them because big scary reasons they aren't also to be feared for. I'd have a very hard time if I was in a state that mattered.
President Obama was the last time I felt good about an election, a president, and where this country was headed (albeit unaware of any contribution he had to GI). Either way I fear I'll never feel that way again.
I was happy when Obama was president but now I understand that this was when medical coverage for transgender affirmation was started. Obamacare concessions to the medical industry are a big part of what is happening with the transgender supremacy movement.
I care about women's rights, and abortion and the economy. But my number one concern is environmental issues.
So happy to be a moderate and not feel tied to the sinking ship of the dems this year. It frustrates me when people say "I HAVE to vote for X party even tho they are evil and don't align with my values!" No one HAS to vote for any party, and we should ALL be voting based on policy, not stupid made-up narratives about who is wrong and who is right. Newsflash - there are evils on both sides, but one wants to lock men up in women's prisons and restrict free speech. I feel like anyone who is voting for Kamala at this point can't read the writing on the wall (but I support women voting for whoever they want, even if it's not my preferred candidate).
Trump is rightfully despised, democrats and never Trumpers seemed to be perfectly willing to vote for Biden’s corpse over him, so this election should be a cake walk for Harris in theory. But since Harris is such a bad candidate, she’s giving the orange rapist the best chance he could’ve dreamed of. I think she still might win, but only because conservatives refuse to understand that abortion will forever be a losing issue for them.
I think Vance even knows abortion is an issue they’re losing voters on but still refuses to walk it back. He admitted during the debate with Walz that it’s an issue they lost the trust of the American people with!
There is no way for her to spin this interview positively, and Baier nailed her on that position.
I wish she would have been brave enough to say "I was wrong", but I guess that's expecting too much from either of the main candidates this election year. I doubt she would lose many votes by saying that, at least that prisoners' health care shouldn't involve transitions (because that budget is inadequate for actual medical issues that prisoners have).
Then again, I don't have a clue as to what her internal polling is telling her, so maybe she's convinced that she can't afford to back down on this.
I just don't understand how she didn't go to FOX NEWS prepped on how to answer the border and trans issues with something a little more introspective than just blaming Trump, or promises to do better. What's the point if you're not going to sway the demo that cares about those issues?
I think her aides believed that she could skirt the issue by 1) Claiming Trump allowed TIMs access to surgery though he didn't 2)Saying she followed the law.
She's got some really bad advisors obviously because these are piss-poor answers but her team must believe that this is a low key issue. It's the money (a billion) and she has to obey. Someone must have convinced her that it won't matter much in the election even if their polls show it differently.
I don't think her management style will attract good advisors.
Wow, leaving a White House job? These are still considered a prestigious resume credit I believe. That says a lot.
In fairness, I'm struggling with how they could come up with any answer that wouldn't be terrible. This is an indefensible, deeply unpopular position. No spin will change that
There is no way for her to spin this interview positively
Look at (almost) everyone in this thread trying to do just that! Pathetic tbh
Just reading some comments on here, to the effect of, "I'm glad my vote isn't needed" "Hold my nose and vote for Harris"
Jesus, we are just over 100 years of women having the vote, and we have a real shot at the first female president. What would the suffragettes say? Why have you all been convinced this is such a bad thing that you must reluctantly support? Maybe unplug from the propaganda a bit! See the big picture.
Harris is wrong on transgender issues because the Democrats are wrong on transgender issues. But the transgender platform is an ideological capture that will not stand the test of time. I do think we will see the Democrats backtrack on this as they must appeal to wider demographics than the Republicans.
I will be enthusiastically casting my vote.
I'm not convinced that Harris would be a better president than Clinton, or Tulsi Gabbard, for that matter. If she got that flustered by this interview on Fox, how is she going to handle Xi or Putin? They certainly aren't going to treat her gently.
It's not enough to have a woman president. I don't want a woman in that office who I don't believe is up for the job, because if she fails, every potential woman candidate that follows her will be dismissed before she can even start campaigning. It sucks and it's unfair, but unfortunately, it's the truth.
There will be other women running for president. Harris isn't our only chance, forever.
I agree and I am also worried she will fail badly because she is so weak. Clinton and Gabbard are tough and would have probably been good presidents. Clinton was a policy wonk and was very much for women's rights. Putin was afraid of her. But I fear that if Harris fails, people won't vote for another woman.
I don't believe in voting for someone solely because she is a woman. I care about policy and competency, two things Harris fails on.
What will the next administration do is the real question. I am not into voting for a woman simply because it will be a benchmark in history. The money behind the transgender movement and the debauchery of many leaders of the trans transhumanist movement mean that this ideology will be pushed by Harris and likely will become deeply ingrained in our society if she wins.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. And I’ll be honest. The trans issue is a deep concern of mine. And watching the way the Biden administration has handled this topic leaves me with a lot of concerns.
There have been a few moments where I’ve entertained the idea of Trump. There’s nothing wrong with entertaining the idea. And I entertained it because they don’t put up with this nonsense openly.
But I’m not stupid. I remember and know he’s unfit and I remember how painful it was to have him as president. And the idea of voting for him is agonizing.
I’ve made my choice. I know who I’m voting for.
I’m honestly paying more attention to the people I’m going to vote for on a local and state level. Those are the people we really need to pay close attention too. They’re closer to us and have more of an impact on our lives.
Yeah, I’ve been saying things like this for a few months. Trump is unfit to be president for multiple reasons.
I'm so glad that I'm in a state where the vote will go overwhelmingly for one of the candidates, so my vote isn't needed.
I am not adding to this woman's vote totals. No way is she getting a mandate from me. NO FUCKING WAY.
If you're in a toss up state, I feel for you, but you must hold your nose and vote to secure women's rights.
The fact that so many people feel this way (and most people are in solidly red/blue states anyway) is very scary for women’s rights. Yet again, the Democratic Party chose a candidate so unpalatable that the Dems will likely win the popular vote but lose the electoral college.
And it’s not just because KH is a woman. Supporting predatory men and mutilating healthy bodies extremely unpopular and it will cost women their right to their own bodies.
Yet again, the Democratic Party chose a candidate so unpalatable that the Dems will likely win the popular vote but lose the electoral college.
Its their own fault for trying to gaslight us all into believing that Biden was fit to serve another term. They fucked up, had to change the candidate, and had to find a new VP candidate at the 11th hour when Biden couldn't fake it anymore. And now many democrats are rightfully angry that they were denied a chance to vote for Biden's replacement
I want badly to throw away my vote in protest but unfortunately I do live in a swing state. We have some heavily populated cities that always go blue and heavily weight the vote, but huge swathes of the state are rural and very red. Trump took my state in 2016 very unexpectedly for all the projectors, it could happen again. I’m morally obligated to cast a ballot I’m afraid.
Sounds like the old joke about Pennsylvania, that there’s Philadelphia on one end, Pittsburgh on the other and Alabama in between. I was a Philly girl for many years and there’s a kernel of truth in this.
Isn’t it amazing how diverse even a single state can be? We have liberal arts college graduates sipping wine and virtue-signaling on one side, and factory workers who go deer hunting and fly confederate flags on the other. It’s wild.

It really is isn’t it? Not just culturally either, the land and climate can differ greatly in one state. Back to culturally, even back when I was willing to be polite, (a very long time ago atp) I knew no one could could change sex physically and wasn’t even certain that anyone could successfully take on the sex role stereotypes even if they wanted to. I was first asked about this some thirty years ago and said that people could live as they chose (before I even had an inkling about the paraphilic behavior around this) but that no man would ever be a woman.
Under the same umbrella, I’m a little sheepish that the conservative warning that loosening sexual mores would be a slippery slope to pornographic, fetishistic dystopia but here we are. But it’s men that drove this particular car off the cliff, I wish that we could successfully call them on it.
At least I get to vote for abortion rights at the same time (FL). Just... focusing on that.
That's what I'm going to do - by not voting for candidates that want to limit women's ability to freely travel over state lines.
Do you have a citation for this?
I do! In my state where a lot of Trump supporters are elected officials. Those who think Trump won't be bad...well, he's a toady to these people and this is what they will do: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjMg7H465WJAxW8ENAFHbo_JAwQFnoECBgQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.washingtonpost.com%2Fpolitics%2F2022%2F03%2F08%2Fmissouri-abortion-ban-texas-supreme-court%2F&usg=AOvVaw3jiBY_jlgqn1iTauD2CR9V&opi=89978449
It's an edited soundbite.
Okay, your turn. Where's your source that he doesn't believe this?
Edit: downvotes but no source?
In an effort to branch the olives to people and give out more information, here is more context on Vance’s opinions about the state travel. The original audio for Vance mentioned above is clipped from a longer segment here:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/work-of-jd-vance-61720155
While the clip is cut from it. I personally didn’t find this one to be taken out of context.
After Vance was called out for this behavior he did have an interview which is here https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/12/magazine/jd-vance-interview.html
The archive is https://archive.ph/gEUZr
Vance in this interview to paraphrase says he’s personally against it, but that he supports states deciding for themsleves. In my opinion, he is quietly stating that if he got to decide he would limit women, but that he knows at this time he can’t actually.
Thank you for this, I'm at work and on mobile so it's harder for me to dig.
It's just that a company tried to recruit me for this type of work once. Editing soundbites based on their "specifications." How can I not be cynical?
If you're in a toss up state, I feel for you, but you must hold your nose and vote to secure women's rights.
The problem is that we're in a Kobayashi Maru situation. There is no correct choice. No matter who wins, we're fucked.
Harris is just as much of a puppet as Biden. She'll do whatever her masters at the DNC tell her (and that includes simping for genderwoo)
And we can't even count on Trump just doing the same things he did in his last term because he no longer has a VP with the stones to tell him "no" (and there's a good chance his mental faculties are in decline)
This is my thought too, that women are screwed no matter whom we vote into office. Extra irony? Even the female candidate is going to dismantle women’s rights and make their life infinitely more difficult in numerous ways. Through the looking glass sisters.
Yikes, she should have stuck to her strategy of avoiding talking about her policies too much. Truth is, there is no way she can please everyone from the American center to the far left (and she needs all their votes). I guess when it comes down to it, her research confirmed what we already knew. Only the far left are willing to ride or die for TIMs.
I am not going to be happy when Trump wins, but I am going to be happy when she loses is very weird to say as someone who has to vote for her.
I think we are going to have another major "recession" --don't call it a depression--soon. The debt is out of control to the tune of $33 trillion. Perhaps I want Harris to be there, to deal with what Biden/Harris have done, but that means an administration that will completely deny reality would be in office. Tomorrow or the next day I will start tuning out!
Harris and Walz are horrid human beings who will more than likely (looking at polling and the fact that they're trailing in too many swing states) never actually be a governing duo. The Democrats refusal to address immigration killed this campaign before it was ever thought of in working class areas. They are utter failures.
I have to vote for them but I'm not going to feel bad for them when they lose.
If they lose, I'll admit to feeling schadenfreude about Walz. He's loathsome to me.
The only bright spot in this is, if Harris wins, I think Team Blue could possibly be pushed into stepping back on Trans, if we get enough weight behind it, and maybe some money.
I think Team Blue could possibly be pushed into stepping back on Trans, if we get enough weight behind it, and maybe some money.
I'm sorry but I don't see any "bright spots" in any of this (and especially her). Money is no object for the billionaires pushing trans. We wouldn't be able to raise enough to counter them. They own the media, they own social media, they own thousands of organizations that were supposed to protect us (Eg. ACLU). They also own our "democratic" process with the ability to change our laws and constitution without our approval. Ultimately we have no pushback if we keep voting the politicians they own (by force, "lesser" of two evils or whatever). Voting for them is putting weight behind Trans. Not that we have many choices there they are very powerful at keeping opposing candidates out of the limelight. Basically "Team Blue" has nothing to fear. They aren't afraid of the handful of incredibly brave people who go out into the streets to protest. Protesting in general is no longer a viable option for any cause and hasn't been for some time.
I'm at the point now that I see elections as a way to make us feel like we have some power, sort of like the Matrix.
The only option we have now is concerted financial pressure (boycotts) on the companies behind it but thats very difficult to pull off given all the monopolies that exist right now. Those companies do "suffer" for a while but bounce back eventually and keep on going.
I wish I had an answer. We could 'wishful think' this forever but that only keeps this going. This is war on women. And wars are painful.
I have zero counter argument other than the main brand promise Team Blue has made since I've been voting: "Yeah but have you seen the other guys". And so, in circles we go.
Once she wins she will do what her buyers want and maybe pretend to care the next election cycle
I agree. Let the political machinery of our troubled democracy clang, rattle, shake, and spit out the trans nightmare at last. Gee I wish it would happen overnight, and not be painful, and there not be any collateral damage. However, there IS significant collateral damage already, and it IS going to take time unfortunately. May a new feminism arise from the ashes (although I'm not hopeful).
I mean, this is the closest to legalized permanent sterilization of sex offenders that we can reach before it impacts freedom. I think we should cover bottom surgery on males for this reason. It also allows us to do research and improve surgical techniques on a larger scale. I say line them up- and maybe argue to have a separate prison dedicated to this.
Just my opinion.
Doesn’t matter, most TIMs don’t want SRS. Depending on where you read, either 94% or 96% of trans identified males are fully intact and intend to stay that way. They want the other surgeries (bolt ons, body contouring, facial feminization surgery) to feed their fetish. TIMs definitely don’t want to lose the sexual function.
There’s a possibility that the American taxpayer will be paying for cosmetic surgeries for trans criminals, including the higher percentage of rapists in the TIM population. What’s next? TERFs will be forced to send them affirming care packages?
Just want to emphasize that I love you all, and don’t let TRAs split us over politics. Regardless of how we vote, we have a shared mission. Trying to chop up and divide members of a group is one of the most efficient means of sabotaging a group.
( I’m not accusing anyone of that here at all. Just not to let political differences distract us from the larger goal of overthrowing the trans cult.)
