TW for verbal abuse

The other night I was called a "fat wh0re" and a "dumb btch" for the thousandth time in an online gaming lobby. Because our team was losing the match and I guess it was my fault. Once the first guy started in on me, two more who had been muted up to that point gleefully joined in with, "yeah you fucking stupid btch shut the fuck up".

Why do men in gaming love to pile on when one of them starts verbally abusing a woman? It's like they stay quiet until they hear some other guy start running his mouth. Then they realize it's "okay" to verbally abuse a woman. They seem SO excited they've found a comrade who also hates women. In real life they'd never get the chance to be this vile without getting called on it by someone (at least I'd like to think so).

I have loved video games since I was a little kid. I can't even play them anymore because I enjoy online multi-player games much more than solo story-based games. Yet I get called fat, a wh0re, a btch, and once a guy told me to "shut up cause your voice sounds like a dumb d*ke with a mouthful of pussy" after I said hi to my team.

I always mute and block these losers but it's like whenever I block one, there are 3 more incels to deal with in the next lobby; they multiply like the disgusting rats that they are.

But how do you ladies who also enjoy online multi-player games deal with it? Even when I mute and block, I feel so shitty afterward that I end up just quitting and sometimes crying (out of anger). I don't understand the appeal of going out of your way to fuck up some stranger's day.
