wax gourd
Had to look them up :) the leaves are different and they aren't pods with goo. I don't think this one's in the pumpkin family. But the wax gourd looks interesting; I might get that next year :D
It was a vine of some sort (it climbed a tree). The fruits were the big grey-green-blue pods and inside was some sticky, soft gooey pulp with seeds.
I love finding wacky fruits I’ve never heard before!
Hopefully it’s edible right?
Ooh! I think I found it! :D it might be Akebia Quinata. Does that seem right?
Looks like it's this- Akebia quinata

We must have reached the same conclusion simultaniously :D glad to have an extra vote on this guess. Now I regret not tasting the fruit.
It's so exciting! I'll have to read more about it ☺️ Thanks!
That looks better than mine 😭
