This year's garden lessons (so far)
Posted August 21, 2023 by Jernsaxa in Gardening

Don't let others tell you there's something you can't grow. They're wrong.

  • apparently I can't grow Musquee de Provence, but I have two big pumpkins in my garden 😃 Also, Crown Prince apparently only grow up to 4kg, but I've harvested one that's 5123g 😏

Hope may seem far away, but it's there.

  • Due to the drought my plants didn't want to grow very much in the beginning, but all of a sudden my garden just boomed (really feels like it was over night). Almost lost hope.
  1. Sunflowers are excellent substitutes for corn in the pumpkin garden. And so happy too ♥️

  2. Don't be afraid to change your plans.

  • So much had to be changed yhis year! But the joy and results are still great ☺️
  1. Don't try to cage your pumpkins. It's pointless and yields bad results. (Although maybe it can work for someone else. See lesson no.1)
  • I build such a great cage full of delicious manure for my giant pumpkins. They didn't like it.
  1. The smallest, weakest plants might end up being the best yielding ones.
  • Planted some pumpkins I had basically given up on but couldn't throw out. Now they're huge.

Isn't it amazing what we can learn in our gardens? ☺️ What has your garden taught you this year (so far)?

Edit: Apologies for the set-up. I don't know how to make it better.
