I need advice about a FLF that has developed dark brown spots. Just a few and a few leaves fell but that seems to have slowed down. Everything on the internet says its root rot but as there are only 2 or 3 spots now and no new leaf drop, I am afraid of shocking it by repotting. Moreover, there is a lot of new growth at the top I'd hate to damage. Thoughts?
I don't have an FLF but I used to be into houseplants. I still have a decent amount.
Root rot tends to happen due to improper watering. (And then later on when the plant outgrows the pot and becomes root bound, that could also cause root rot.)
How long have you had the FLF?
Has it recently been moved? Temperature changes? Light changes?
When you water the plant, do you let the water drain out instead of letting it sit? Letting houseplants sit in a pool of water tends to be a common cause of root rot.
How often are you watering?
I wish I had an answer. I have pretty much given up on them and have had the same issue you are describing. I can safely say after killing 2 that I would be terrified to repot, but good luck. I hope it works out. Let me know if you find the magic cure.
