I hate that character selection screens are now "body type A" and "body type B" instead of "male or female". And even when the Japanese version clearly says "boy or girl", the localizers have to change it to "body types".
And it's especially hilarious when they shoehorn this shit where it makes no sense. The Last Of Us 2 is a good example. The game has a TIF character. But it also takes place in a universe where a zombie disease destroyed the world around 2010 (and the sequel takes place about 30 years deep into the zombie apocalypse). Everyone in the Last of Us universe wears the same basic clothes, no makeup or jewelry, etc because it's the GODDAM ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE and nobody has time for that nonsense. People struggle to obtain basic provisions like food and safe shelter. But I'm supposed to believe that multiple hardened survivors would give a fuck about some dumb little girl's make-believe boy soul?
And what's extra fucked up is that the TIF character comes from a religious cult where she was slated to be married off to an old man. And instead of saying, "Hmmmm. Perhaps your desire to be a boy is actually just a desire to not be forcibly raped and impregnated by some gross old man?"
...the game says, "Yep! Saying no to that marriage totally proves your boyhood! Because a real chick would be cool with that!"
God I hate the body type 1 and 2, itâs always the male body the first one, never the female. They/them feels cheap, they couldnât even pay the vocie actors a little more to say one extra line. I like when games give you the ability to change the sex of your characters, I like playing both male and female characters and Iâm very indecisive.
I hate it so much, it's so annoying. I like life sim/farming games and a lot of the new ones will include non-binary love interests (most of the time they just look like women with short hair and special pronouns). Or some games won't let you pick between a male or female character, they'll force you to play as a they/them.
I'm glad there isn't any dumb gender stuff in Stardew Valley at least, despite all the demands made by TRAs for him to include it.
Yesss Stardew Valley is very based. You're male or female, everyone is, and if you have children they're clear that you either give birth (hetero marriage) or adopt (homo marriage).
Yes! I also like how the dialogue will be slightly different with some characters if you're pursuing a same-sex romance. I hope the new game he's working on won't have any gender BS either.
The farming sims are sometimes the worse, when they wonât even let you pick your character.
Iâm glad stardew doesnât have any of that crap. I remember loving it when I was playing it a long time ago but I had to stop because it was way too addictive for me
And the worst part is is that if you complain about it in any capacity, people will immediately jump down your throat for agreeing with the aggressive gamer bros who hate all this "woke liberal crap" and its "DEI" check boxes. Like no, this is a real thing that is happening across the whole damn industry at this point and it's getting visibly obvious to everyone.
Same. One of my favourite games is The Sims 4; by now I've played close to 540 hours, most of them with just one save. While I appreciate that EA adds new content with updates, some of it is just plain virtue signalling. For instance, the last update removed the terms "husband/wife", "boyfriend/girlfriend" and "fiance/fiancée" because they weren't "inclusive" enough. Instead, we now have "spouse", "partner", and "engaged" - at least in the English version, and the Steam forum is in an uproar about it. In German, we still have gendered terms because German doesn't have neutral terms that would work as a substitute.
The Sims 4 also has pronouns, though I'm not sure the German version has them yet - I've been playing with my main household for over a year now and rarely go into CaS to change things, and I haven't been looking for those pronouns either.
The main problem other players and myself are having with this bullshit is that players don't have a choice when it comes to calling a Sim wife or husband or boyfriend or girlfriend. Instead, EA just erased those terms, but are the gender specials and TIMs happy? No, because - and this is SO typical - the TIMs have fought SO HARD to be able and use the term "wife", and now EA is taking that away from them. They always manage to make everything about themselves, it's SO annoying.
EA doesn't even do this out of the kindness of their hearts. It's pure virtue signalling and targeted marketing, nothing else. Yet the gender specials and trans aren't happy with those because it's still not enough for them. One even demanded a trans DLC "because we deserve it". I wouldn't put it past EA to make such a DLC, although I'm sure it would tank 'cause the average Sim player won't buy it.
Another example that panders to gender ideology is Baldur's Gate 3. I love it, I really do, but personally, I don't need a TIM character that is referred to as "Madame" and has a male voice (think Sirona Ryan from Hogwarts: Legacy, only more obnoxious). And I also don't care that the character editor allows you to create a female avatar with a dick. Basically, the game lets you create your character any way you want, and it doesn't get any more diverse than that. But again, players whine about it not being inclusive enough. Some have gone as far as demanding rainbow flags and other political symbols.
Thankfully, the Steam forum, despite its many flaws, seems to share the view that inclusion is anything but inclusive and that games such as The Sims or Baldur's Gate already cater enough to gender specials as it is. Also, having political symbols (like the Palestine flag) in a fantasy world has infuriated quite a few.
Oh, and I just remembered that in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you could switch your gender at anytime and play both as male and female Eivor đ
I'm usually pretty good at ignoring all this bullshit, but I can totally see EA ruining The Sims by taking away players' choices and forcing that woke ideology on us.
For instance, the last update removed the terms "husband/wife", "boyfriend/girlfriend" and "fiance/fiancée" because they weren't "inclusive" enough. Instead, we now have "spouse", "partner", and "engaged"
I feel like this was an excuse to make the game easier to program. The neutered terms means they don't have to program the different words depending of if your Sim has a wife, husband, fiancĂ©/fiancĂ©e, etc. They're all just "partners". đ€Ł
Probably, but the old terms have been in use for years. Wouldn't be the first time that something that has worked before now messes with the game, though, I mean, it is EA, after all. Probably the only company that manages to take care of lots of bugs with a single patch while creating new ones along the way đ
I play the Sims and one of the newer expansion packs included a family with a TIM mother. âCisâ dad but the âmomâ is a TIM. They have two adopted kids. The game now has a pronoun selector and you can also select âgets pregnant or can get other sims pregnantâ and âuses toilet standing up or sitting downâ and âcan or canât produce milkâ when creating a sim. So the âmomâ has gender as woman but can get others pregnant and produce milk, but canât use the toilet standing (idk why if he can get others pregnant? weird inconsistency lol).
The produce milk part is especially disturbing imo because.. no. They canât. Even if they induce it with hormones, they shouldnât and itâs not the same thing.
The options with pregnancy, standing up using the toilet and milk production have always been there, I think... or at least for quite some time now, I think I saw that about a year ago when I created my current household. And it can be changed back if you control the Sim in question. Also, aliens can impregnate male Sims; at least there's an in-game achievement for that.
That doesn't make it any better, though, especially now that they've introduced pronouns (not sure about the German version, haven't checked on that) and taken away gendered terms such as wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend.
Is the expansion pack with the TIM Lovestruck? I hardly ever look at the NPC families and hardly interact with them at all
Oh yeah I think those options came with a game update at some point not connected to that pack. No the pack with the TIM sim is Growing Together (which maybe isnât even that new, time flies đ).
Let me clarify that the sim I was talking about is in Growing Together. Not sure about any trans sims in Lovestruck but wouldnât surprise me.
I think Lovestruck has a non-binary Sim... but like I said, I hardly ever interact with any of the NPC-Sims and never bother to get to know them better, so I miss idiocies like a TIM Sim. I like Growing Together, though, it adds some nice gameplay... and I think it came out one or two years ago? Can't really remember, I only bought it a couple of months ago when I decided my Sims needed to start a family đ
Sometimes when I get a new pack I do pick a random family or two just to visit and check out (sometimes Iâm scoping out townies for my sims to get with lol). I picked the family with the TIM and when I started looking at their bios and other stats I realized.
I like the pack too, it has some nice build and buy items imo.
Maybe I should start doing that, too, I mean, I've been playing The Sims 4 for more than 500 hours by now and haven't had many interactions with other Sims, let alone checked out their bios. Probably because at the moment, I have... uh... four households with thirteen Sims total and am pretty busy seeing to their needs. But I just remembered that my main household's oldest daughter is having a woohoo relationship with some townie or other, I gotta check out his stats and bio... and now that I know there's at least one TIM and at least one non-binary special, I'll start paying attention 'cause I really don't want my Sims ending up with gender specials. They are too precious to me to do such a vile thing to them đ
Yeah I get curious about who they add to the towns and what their stories or job, skills etc are. You can also google for example âSims 4 Lovestruck familiesâ and read all about them so you donât have to physically do it in the game, which is what I often do but sometimes I do check in in game.
Good idea :) It would save me a lot of time, too, because tending to four households in rotation is quite stressful đ
Oh yeah, I started Overwatch again and I saw a new character I hadn't heard anything about, thumbnail looks like a dude. I watch the hero trailer and the voice is female. I think "oh, it's a woman, cool". Then read the description and "they" everywhere. So here we have a female hero with lots of layers of clothing that hide her body and an androgynous face but let's pretend she's not a woman.
I actually came back to Overwatch because YT recommended some videos about the new hero to me (a woman from Mars it seems) so I was surprised to see there had been another addition before that didn't make it into my recommendations. Does YT consider me a TERF? đ€ Lol.
Anyway, I agree with you. It's spreading everywhere and I'm tired of telling myself "just ignore it and enjoy the game". I'm tired of how used to ignoring misogyny I am. I do that when watching movies, TV shows, animes, playing games, all of the time, everywhere. "Just ignore it and enjoy".
Overwatch 2 is a shame for a lot of reasons. But I think there's such a glaring difference between OW characters and OW2 characters. The original characters managed to feel diverse and creative without feeling forced. (mostly). Just a worldwide conflict involving different people from around the world.
And maybe it's because I haven't really played 2 much after 1 was shut down, so I'm not getting the full story on these. But it seems like every new character is a tumblr OC. "This is Wavedigger. They are a nonbinary, Native American/Chinese mixed race, demisexual person with a prosthetic limb and vitiligo. They have purple hair and a sassy attitude! Oh and I guess they live underwater and heard of Overwatch as a kid or whatever. But they also have ADHD!"
If YouTube finally gives you a good timeline then yea I guess? Ha
I just woke up from a bad disturbing dream, so forgive me if I donât come off as exactly lucid, but Instagram still tries to sneak in gender bullshit to me even though I report it and say I donât want to see anything with certain words in it. Then I have a nightmare about it and canât fall back to sleep đ„Č
Like I gotta protect myself somehow, which is also tiring because that means a lot of media, including games, I have to toss out, even if they are good. I donât want to give my attention, or my dollars, to any of that.
Sky: cotl is so annoying calling almost every character âthey/themâ
Like bro I wanna have a female character. Lemme have a female character
"The personal/private is political"
I don't mind games with political messages but many games do it wrong and pander to males/TIMs or male-supporting women while telling the same old misogynistic story. They just name it different. This is the unpleasing thing for me.
A political message can be put into etheral symbolism, similar to what the Deus Ex, Journey or Assassins Creed franchise tried but sadly lost or ruined.
And I want my revenge story: vulnerable women become strong with help of [whatever fantasy sparkle insert here] and kill the bad ones aka males and male-supporting enemies. There should be female as the norm.
It's disturbing how so many games have removed "male/female" from their character creation screens and replaced it with "Body Type 1" and "Body Type 2." It's so dehumanizing.
And then Voice Type A and Voice Type B, so you can mix and match. đ
EDIT: and then a separate pronoun setting so you can look and sound exactly like a man and still have everyone magically know to call you she/her because that makes sense.
(Or maybe everyone will just say they/them anyway because the devs were lazy)
Men's options are always first too!!! We'll always have to scroll/click to the end to find anything for women
If more women could build own video game companies I think we would have more representation as default
Sadly, most women in that industry are evangelical handmaidens. And the few women who don't worship at the feet of TIMs have been largely forced out. If a women's game company was created, the handmaidens would roll over and let TIMs take it over within a day
They did this with the new Animal Crossing game (select your 'style') but only in the English version, every other language still had male or female. And then your animal friends will refer to you as they/them so your choice doesn't even matter đ
I hate that they're allowed to do this to foreign properties. If American companies want to do that "Body Type 1" bullshit, that's on them. But leave the Japanese games alone
Agreed, I hate how they have so much control over translations and localization. I've seen another Japanese game where they changed dialogue to make a gay male gnc character non-binary, and a gay romance manga where they rewrote a ton of dialogue to make it seem like the story was about a TIM, and not a gnc guy. If they're going to add gender bs or erase gay characters they need to make their own content and stop doing it to existing properties.
Most of these "queers" couldn't write a compelling story/character if their lives depended on it. That's why they resort to fucking up other people's creations
I've seen so many god awful fanfic/fanart depictions by kweers that absolutely ruined characters and made them unrecognizable. And any time these people try to make their own original works it's boring, unoriginal, and full of SJW nonsense.
Oohh I hated getting "they"ed by the villagers!
Right?? I have extra characters on my island and whenever I play as them and talk to the villagers, they'll refer to my character as 'they' and it's so annoying. Like why can't I just be female like previous games, why does 'they/them' have to be the only option đ
Getting "they/themmed" by my villagers honestly made me lose a connection to the games' dialogue. In the older games, I felt like they were actually my little buddies. Now you're just "somebody" (as well as your irl friends that visit your island that they also "they/them").
Yeah.. I know New Horizons has gotten criticism for the dialogue being watered down/repetitive compared to previous games, and the 'they/them' certainly doesn't help :/ I hate that it's the only option, like they couldn't just add a dumb non-binary option and still let the rest of us be male or female? It's so weird seeing my female friends' characters being referred to as 'they' too.
I really hate that the sexual dimorphism in Splatoon 1 and 2 is gone in 3. You can only tell by the eyebrows now.
And more on the topic of Splatoon; Acht, an obvious female listed as being female in the japanese version and the original English promos, is now just a "they/them" because she wears a dress and a baseball cap. No tomboys allowed anymore.
"Sanitization" (brainwashing) is seen as bad in-universe, but sanitizing and brainwashing is exactly what these game developers are doing by shoving all this junk into their games.
That is so fucked up
Itâs very othering, otherworldly (in a bad way), and dystopic. What if a kid comes across these games? Theyâd get to thinking this is normal. I shudder at that thought
Games should be free from being a hellscape, but nope, gotta put in the gender woo there tooâŠin a card game no less
That's the real reason why they keep pushing the gender woo in everything no matter how unpopular it is among their paying customers. The young have no frame of reference for just how abnormal this all is. The gender woo cult is waiting out the clock for the rest of us older thought criminals to die out until the day nobody in the West remembers normalcy. Or at least that's the plan in their demented minds. IMO, their plans are doomed to fail for many reasons.
I hope youâre right that their plan is doomed because thatâs beyond nefarious
Itâs grooming behavior
