To my discord server to meet up and talk about pleasant (and not so pleasant) topics. The discord was started a few years ago as a place for writers to meet and give each other feedback. Now due to Ovarit closing we are widening our scope and welcoming every artistic soul, should it be knitting, watching movies or reading a book by a fireplace.
The discord server is women-only. I will not do verifications, but I will check your post history on Ovarit.
PM for invite :)
I found it worthwhile. It was super interesting to read about the fracture in the pagan community due to gender issues.
yeah. I lived that. It was ugly. I still know a lot of pagans I can barely talk to anymore.
I'm sorry. That must have been devastating. I've only become interested in dianic wicca recently and it's so sad to read about how they were vilified for wanting one damned thing for women only.
Recently when casually mentioning my interest in this I had someone tell me all the dianic wiccans were t*rfs and 'right wing operatives' intent on destroying the LBGTQ community. It feels pretty bad to have people on my own side saying shit like that.
I'm sorry for what you went through. I was reading about it in real time because of GenderTrender. There are myriads of different Pagan spiritual groups, but the TIMs had to try to be involved with the most Female-centric of them.
Nobody cares what Trans people do with their bodies. They really think that's the issue. But it's this kind of Misogynist Male entitlement power plays are the issue.
But I never in my wildest nightmares ever thought that this Settler-Colonizing Process in ALL women's spaces would be the de rigueur of the Trans Liberation Movement.
Yeah, their influence on the pagan community while everyone continues to ignore the misogyny in the pagan community was one of the early signs for me. I always leaned more dianic and watching the female only groups get destroyed was heartbreaking.
Haven’t read it but thanks gor the recommendation.
We should all be requesting these books through our public libraries too. A public service type of thing. 😎
IMO it's a mixed bag. Some very good chapters across a wide range of perspectives. If you're looking for commentary on how trans advocacy affects women's spirituality, it's the only place I've seen it.
Thank you. It makes sense that it’s a mixed bag, with it being by lots of different writers. That’s something I’d never even considered, I’m definitely interested to learn more.
Definitely worth reading, it has a broad range of contributors analyzing the impact of gender identity extremism on alot of aspects of women's lives. I reserve it it from my local library a couple of times each year so that it doesn't get ditched by the system for lack of use.
I enjoyed it. It isn’t perfect by any means and it definitely leans towards the pagan community.
It's an edited volume--some of the chapters are blazing and other chapters are so-so.
Due the content of this book, you might get more responses by posting this in o/FeministBooks.
Thank you, I’ll post it there too! 🙂
