"a person could have an oddball quirk and still function well and keep his nuttiness a deep, dark secret." Yes, and we are seeing this exposed in the Pelicot trial in France. Women everywhere need to be cognizant that there are dozens of men in their own communities who would be willing to rape your unconscious body if they thought they'd get away with it. It is horrifying that we need to teach this to our daughters.

So we go from “could be worse! Don’t judge!” to “just remember your perverted secret might get seen in an emergency!”

Lmaoooo right??
Yea. Like I said, Ann Landers is from a different time and I certainly wouldn’t call her a feminist. But I do think it’s important to see these letters (and her responses) for the sake of historical documentation.

Ann Landers had to be careful she didn't upset her employers with her answer.
