I live in an area great for gay men, with events and groups catering to them all over the place. But lesbians? Finding a munch or social group has been hard. Even harder is finding one not filled with men.
I'm not even looking specifically for a relationship, but to make connections and friends with like minded and attracted women, IRL. Covid hasn't helped either!
Any tips? (Or anyone in Alberta looking to have a coffee and convo? Haha)
Most of my lesbian friends are people I met on dating apps, as you can select "looking for friends" on HER and just add people as a friend rather than a match. The people I met on dating apps then introduced me to their friends, so I found out about more informal lesbian gatherings. In my area there's also a few lesbian-specific events on Meetup too, but I don't know what it's like in your region.
Check the website Meetup. Look on social media like Instagram, a lot of cities have LGB groups on there.
Do you play any sports? I haven't had luck with these but I have friends that have met lesbians (and girlfriends) through Triathlon clubs, hiking groups, birding, and running clubs. My wife's friend met her partner through softball and another friend met her (now ex) through a trivia club. I feel like Meet-ups and such are a really great resource for adults to meet each other. Besides my friends from my youth, all of my current friends, I've met through a hobby. It's not easy though. We moved right before COVID hit and we have been struggling to meet people. A lot of our friend group has moved during COVID. Good luck!!
