I’m not sure what else to call it. But I have to let people know they’re being scammed.

Tizzy is an Internet personality who has a lot of connections in the legal space because of the work he does to identify people who harass others. His followers are left-leaning and he has a huge influence on social media.

Recently, a poster on Reddit claimed to have been kidnapped by police (I say “kidnapped” because it was an illegal arrest) and thrown into a jail cell for kissing her girlfriend. The story has blown up.

The original poster has been wishy washy on details, but shared this happened in Houston. Originally, the poster claimed to not know the identity of the woman who reported her to her cop friends. She posted an update where she magically found this information but neglected to share how she found out.

She goes on to say that she isn’t seeking legal advice because her girlfriend “needs to recover mentally.” Her girlfriend, of course, is black, just to add an extra layer of spice to the story.

The poster has posted similar stories under different names before, but nothing that has blown up quite like this. It’s to the extent that people are offering to set up GoFundMe’s for the poster. (The irony of this is that it would be fraud if the poster accepted the money, as this almost certainly never happened.)

I did some digging around social media to see if I could find anything about two women being help up at gunpoint by police, since that was part of her original claim. Nobody has posted anything about it, besides the poster in question. Not a peep. Houston is the largest city in Texas and boasts a diverse population; the very idea that something like this would happen without someone talking about it is questionable at best.

Reading down the thread of replies, people have given good advice, and now that an Internet personality has offered to help, the poster has gone silent, perhaps because they are afraid they’ll be caught in their lie.

I would have kept my opinion to myself if people hadn’t started offering money to this person. It angers me that people are so hungry for attention that they’ll resort to making up stories like this. It angers me even more that people are gullible enough to believe it without stopping to question the unrealistic nature of the situation.

I posted this on the lesbian thread because it involved two lesbians (supposedly) and has gained a lot of attention in the last few hours.

It annoys me that people are so willing to make light of homophobia that they’ll resort to lying about something so ridiculous.

I think the one step, the one literal step I'd like them to take first, is to give up the heels. Those things are absolutely horrific for your feet and legs. You will end up needing a cane, stop wearing things that disable you in the long term, and limit your range of motion.

And if I read one more amateur clothes historians bullshit about corsets ffs. Even if "they were properly fitted" which really? We can't even find bras that fit properly TODAY, what makes y'all think women back then could? So even if fitted, they restrict your stomach from fully expanding when you take a breath, meaning breathing is laboured, you cannot eat as much because again it is a tight fitted garment with little space. It will destroy your abdominal muscles and ability to hold yourself upright if worn often. Girdles, which were less extreme then corsets, worn everyday made women dependant on them, again made it so they couldn't support their body weight without one. Even if you wore the proper magical fitted corset, all this would be true.

Haha preaching to the choir. Corsets? My autism said HELL NO

My physical therapist told me "High heels bought my bathroom remodel". I hate them. The one exception being, wearing platform boots to rock show when I was a young-un, because what's the fun of watching people's shoulders for an hour and a half.

Great point. Plus historically, way more ppl reused and recycled old clothing. A lot of ppl relied on hand me downs. Maybe rich ppl got proper fittings but not regular ass ppl

Regular people sewed their own clothes. Their hand-me-downs fit them better than your shirt from target or Amazon fits you

Weird. People in the past did not buy ready-to -wear industrially-sized clothing. Not arguing one way or the other on corsets but if you think people in the past had problems with clothing fit because you, today, buy a size whatever off a rack, you're pretty off base.

I hate hate HATE makeup! Expensive, feels disgusting on my face, and just powers the misogynistic beauty industry. I never wear it to work or anywhere unless I am forced by social rules (e.g. traditional weddings or parties, which I rarely go to anyways). Makeup is nothing but visual stimuli for men. Libfems who wear makeup for the purpose of going against men are, quite frankly, dumb :(

Can someone please explain this meme to me?

CryingInYourInboxMay 27, 2024(Edited May 27, 2024)

Libfems believe that you can wear makeup in a way that really sticks it to the patriarchy. Remember that quote that's like "Eyeliner so sharp it could kill a man!"

Yea, that crap. They think that they can defy mens authority by buying and slathering on makeup

Related to this topic, what do people think about the jumpsuit trend? Supposedly feminist, because it just provides a whole outfit that you don't have to think about matching or accessorizing, plus lots of pockets. I personally have way to big a bust and too short a waist for anything like that, but I see them on all shapes and ages. My artist friend has a bunch of identical ones that she wears most days - for her, it's a way to opt out of some performances of femininity. I think the one with the least paint stains becomes the "fancy" outfit.

If women actually like them then yea nothing wrong with it my sensory issues wouldn't let me wear a jump suit I get hot and claustrophobic in anything that isn't a 100% cotton medium mens cotton tee shirt soooo yea I'm on the same boat with you

The sad part is a lot of them do react this way

CryingInYourInboxMay 26, 2024

Yea but that's because they dont like when women have things, not because it's threatening their structural power

I agree to an extent, although it does depend. Some women spend a great deal on makeup and other beauty rituals, and men hate that because it’s a sign that she does have resources and is choosing to spend them either on attracting a “high quality” mate or (worse) pampering herself, which are resources not spent as an appliance he can use. Men don’t cry about whatever beauty rituals they are personally attracted to and therefore find useful; a great example that men seem to universally find useful and therefore acceptable are shaved legs.

One of the reasons makeup upsets so many men is that quite a lot of women have funneled a drive for creativity or expression into it, thus twisting something that was meant to appeal to the penis into something that isn’t—a particularly painful frustration for a penis haver. Many companies have realized there’s a lot of money in appealing to that side of the practice, and have pivoted their advertising and product lines accordingly. (Or at least they did. It seems to be swinging back the other way again now.)

I don’t see men complaining about skincare.
