Hi all, these are our daily prompts to try to boost engagement. I’ll be posting a different prompt each day, alternating between in o/Lesbians and o/LovingWomen. I won’t be cross-posting, but if someone else wants to that’s fine. If you have your own ideas for questions, you can either post yourself and flair them ‘daily(ish) question’ or message a moderator to add it to the list. We are not too far from 1k subscribers in each circle, and I would love to see us hit that number - and get more of those users interacting.
So: What things should be lesbian stereotypes but aren't (yet)?
A volatile repulsion to Y chromosomes. I want people to compare the idea of a lesbian being with a male to the idea of eating a 2lb porterhouse steak while watching a documentary on slaughterhouses in a vegan's living room. It's just polite not even to broach the notion.
I feel like everything I can think of is already a stereotype. Falling in love too quick, uhauling, staying friends with exes, practical shoes, hiking/bird watching, short hair, feminism, man hating, DIY, etc. & the L Word dating web lol
We put up a bird feeder so the cats can watch from inside. Lesbians watching cats watching birds feels right.
Bird watching is a new one I’ve noticed. A lot of people enjoy bird watching in my area but if a woman says it’s one of her hobbies, it makes my ear perk up a little…. especially if she has a carabiner on her belt loop 🤣
It's even more pronounced as lesbians age. I meet all these other older women bird watching, all of us in our bird nerd outfits (vest with field guides in the pockets). We can tell. We know. Lol
I don’t think I knew about the bird watching, but it checks out when I think about it.
I don't like the idea of stereotypes. The only significant thing is that lesbians have a realistic chance at genuinely egalitarian, mutually respectful relationships. And het women with men have almost no chance.
