TV and MediaBBC I Kissed a Girl - later episodes discussion

Has anyone watched this? I’m sort of hate watching this show, and this episode made me hurt to watch. Why don’t any of these young women know anything about lesbian culture, and instead are mirroring gay male culture?

The amount of leather, bondage gear, whips belts restraints etc… where is the feminism? Where is the challenging of misogyny, why are they just being misogynistic (referring to women as bitches, whores, sluts)?

Don’t even start me on how male gaze-y the party scenes are in particular - so different to the male version of this programme. Women rubbing thong-clad bottoms together? On their hands and knees in skimpy leather, whipping their hair, trailing whips across breasts?! Makes me sad.

Plus I have no idea why the host is being hailed as the ultimate gay icon, women all over her “amazing outfits” - I just wouldn’t care if I were on it, I don’t know any lesbians who would ooh and coo over cheap costume dress. She’s a mediocre second-best to her sister who likes gay men but was presumably forced into doing this show. She backed down after previously self-describing as “queer” by making sure everyone knew she is still 100% straight. She evidently dislikes lesbians from how uninterested she is, and how occasionally you catch her looking revolted. Just ugh.
