Hi. For those knowing more than myself. I've been reading and watching since I was a teenager shoujo ai/yuri/GirlsLove content from asia and america.
Now that I am older, I don't care about many things anymore or it makes just angry, or it gets boring because the target group and writers are obviously males or slice-of-life glitter fans, pushing femininity, violence/perv. against fem. characters and so on.
I try to find more stories with dystopia, action, mystery, superpower, philosophy, some revenge plots, good morality (female friendship) and happy endings but for lesbians. It should be not supportive of males and male gaze.
Now here is a list for example, about some settings that got my interest over the years, because of the dark design and plot, but sadly lack relationships/female characters, costumes and twists to get really involvet into it:
in Comics,
Mangas,
Animes,
Or game worlds similar to
Or movie worlds like Maze Runner, Panem, Resident Evil, Aeon Flux and Underworld.
Have you seen Revolutionary Girl Utena? I don't want to spoil too much but while it's not strictly dystopian, it is deeply philosophical and allegorical, has a strong focus on female friendships and intimacy, and the main villain is kind of a representation of the patriarchy. Rejection of heteronormativity/comphet is a major theme as well.
Make sure you give it a few episodes, as it starts out seeming like a typical shojo anime, but the tropes get bent and snapped in half as it goes on. I still think it's one of the best anime ever created.
