Transphobic. Chandler Bing’s dad is a gay man who openly cheats on Chandler’s mom and continually embarrasses Chandler throughout his life by publicly engaging in transvestism. It’s not at all unrealistic for Chandler to express discomfort and embarrassment at his dad (and mom) acting out sexually. Most kids are embarrassed of their parents for far less than publicly engaging in sexual fetishes. The writers wrote the characters in an absurdly comedic way, but if you read a few transwidow stories and observe how Bruce Jenner treats his family it doesn’t seem that far off from reality.
They're probably pissed that his TIM dad was played by Catherine Turner, a woman.

And its no way in hell Transphobic. Chandler and Monica go out of their way to invite him to their wedding, respected him as he was, attended his performance, and never made fun of him.
I don't think we should even accept that a term in our vocabulary because it comes with the assumption people can change sex. Not to mention people's many objections to people calling themselves "trans" and going about their way to invade women's spaces is a some sort irrational fear. It's not, it a valid concern.

If there is someone objecting to a man wearing a dress it is entirely something else. I hesitate to call it sexism so something else.
Imo there are some situations where it is inappropriate for a man to wear a dress, at least in my culture, which is American.
That doesn't mean he can't dress in a feminine way, but let's just say I agreed completely with that funeral home director who didn't want his male employee greeting bereaved families dressed as a woman.

As far as homophobia goes, it was remarkably progressive for its time. Carol and Susan were good people and good parents with a good relationship. As I recall some local stations objected to airing a lesbian wedding.
Though I'm sure the TRAs don't want to tip their caps to Friends for being on the cutting edge with that... because they don't care about women.
