Now now,

Finally some decent homosexual representation. Who just watched episode 3? I feel for Mariana, but she did dig her own grave.

I feel for Mariana as well, but she was using Anne as an insurance policy. At this point, Anne is in her 40s and it's pretty unreasonable for Mariana to assume Anne wouldn't want to find some sort of companionship from someone that isn't already married. Mariana's predicament is very unfortunate. I cannot imagine being kept in a gilded cage only to be tossed out of my home once my husband dies. The laws surrounding inheritance at this time were very unforgiving.

On a completely unrelated note- I love Anne Lister's wardrobe this season

I am obsessed with Mariana. Major crush on Lydia Leonard and just wait until 2x04 for the drama. 😅💥

I actually find I have issues with Anne/Ann the power imbalance between them really grinds my gears, and I can't get over how unromantic and manipulative I have found Anne marrying someone who was very naive to use her for money and status. I know if Anne were male I would hate how she has behaved with Ann, I would be calling it out, and I can't be blind to it just because i'm a lesbian. How this show sometimes overomanticises them when in reality Anne writes of trying to convince herself she's in love with Ann the night before they "marry" is not my thing and I am sometimes really surprised at how popular the relationship portrayal is.

I'm also quite besotted with Lydia Leonard right now. What a performance she has put in this season! Ep 4 is a real treat for Mariana fans.

I am British so if you also are then may I recommend "ten percent" on Amazon Prime? Lydia is a lead character and a lesbian in it with a sweet romance subplot for her. Every second she is onscreen being no nonsense, confident, and a giant lesbian had me heart eyed. Lol.

And one last word on 2x04 but I absolutely think it's one of the best gj episodes to date. I sadly saw some "shippers" calling it lesbopopbic... (seriously I was in disbelief) and I don't understand why people can't just enjoy all the lesbian drama for what it is because God knows it's rare to find a lesbian drama that doesn't involve men. Gj is an oasis in a sea of het.

I'm not British, but yes, I've just finished watching that show. :D Lydia is easily my favorite in it, but I wish the script were a bit stronger. I guess one can't expect every show to be of the same quality as GJ.

I agree 2x04 is excellent and probably my favorite episode to date. The acting on GJ is great overall, but Lydia as Mariana is simply phenomenal, both in dramatic and comedic scenes. That letter-reading scene is absolutely hilarious. Can't believe some people are calling it "lesbophobic" either... I don't get the appeal of shipping, especially when it comes to real people. And why get upset over something that has already happened in history? Anyway, for me it's definitely the more lesbian drama, the merrier. If only Lydia could star in all lesbian TV shows from now on! 😅

Marian talking about the cow exploding in fright from the train at the beginning of the episode had me absolutely howling with laughter.

I also feel for Marian but I'm definitely on team Ann. However we do know from the diaries that Anne spent the first Christmas after they were married with Mariana instead of Ann.

Also can I just say that one scene talking with one of Ann's relatives - the way Anne was sitting in that chair jesus christ that's some big lesbian energy. Suranne just fucking nails it.

I'm trying to wait for the whole season to come out... Don't know if I'll be able to!
