Older lesbian/wlw role models/friendships/mentors irl?
'Older' here to mean older to your relative age. I'm just curious about how much cross-generational interaction there is between same sex attracted women. Do you gynes have older women you see as mentors? Or maybe are just friends with? Lately I keep hearing about how irl role models are important and it makes me wonder how many same sex attracted women get to experience that.
I haven't, really, until recently. I had a lesbian gym teacher with a wife and kid in middle school, but I didn't know that until after graduating high school, ha, so I don't think it counts. Now, as I've been getting involved with feminism irl, most of the women I work with closely have been same sex attracted, including a woman about my mother's age and another about my grandmother's age. That's been really incredible, to hear more about the history and what it's been like to be a woman loving women at different points in time. I'm young enough to only have had 'queer' communities around me, which I feel more alienated from than from straight culture, so it's been my first time experiencing a feeling of real solidarity, not just theoretical solidarity.
I'm sick of these fucking idiots.

Just because they're called "epithelial cells" in cboth cases does NOT mean it's the same tissue. Some quick wikipedia shows that the tissue structures are extremely different between the two (as you would expect).
Exactly - they’re different types of epithelial cells, arranged differently, different layers of tissue, etc.
Their lack of basic biological knowledge is baffling. So are the certainty and confidence with which they say these things.

So many of these attempts at gotcha points ultimately boil down to the proposition that If Thing One has similarities to Thing Two…then it would be egregiously rude and unfair to ever call it Thing One and not Thing Two.

Jfc, yes, things have similarities and differences. Colon tissue and vaginal tissue have similarities and differences. If your argument boils down to “since these things are somewhat alike, nice people will just ignore the ways they are not alike forever and agree they’re the exact same thing” - which is very much the point that TRAs are making 99% of the time - then I think you’re an idiot.

Colon tissue is cellularly-programmed to produce colonic mucus. You could implant it anywhere in the body, as long as it receives an adequate blood supply that keeps it functioning, and it’s not going to just stop producing what it’s supposed to produce because of where it’s located. Even when tissue grows of its own accord in places where it shouldn’t, it continues to function as it would if it were in the correct location. I have endometriosis growing in my bowel; guess what that tissue does? It bleeds. As it’s supposed to.
