Consent in same-sex relationships
I thought it could be therapeutic for me, and maybe others, to try to broach this topic with other women who date women.
I honestly felt a little sad and lonely seeing the discussion on the front page, about how women aren't just always ready to have sex, they have to desire it and get aroused, too. Because I feel this, even though I've never been in sex work and I'm homosexual.
I say this, because one ex in particular of mine, used to really pressure me into sex frequently. I also feel like this is almost never discussed in lesbian media, assumed to only happen in pairings where a man in involved.
I remember, even just asking her to slow down and allow me to get warmed up first, would often be met with annoyance or dismissal. Even if I'm not being penetrated by anything bigger than her finger, and she goes for my clit first, it still feels awful when someone is trying to be sexual with me and I'm not physically ready for it.
I hope this discussion can go on without anyone trying to make comparisons over coercion being worse when a man does it. I was hoping to make a space to talk about what it feels like when this happens between women.
Women struggled to be admitted to universities, to win the vote, to have financial control over their lives. They're still struggling to preserve their reproductive rights. TiMs never had to fight for any of these things.
Heck, they're still struggling to be born, to even be seen as members of the human species . . .
This reminds me of Dave Chappelle's joke about how the trans rights movement is a rich White man's hobby. And how it would have gone if all the trans-women were poor Black people...
