ventThe infiltration of gay dating apps and wlw spaces
Posted March 22, 2022 by [Deleted] in LovingWomen

The ratio of “cis” women to trans women, nonbinary people, and trans men on lesbian dating apps is so so absurdly low. It truly breaks my heart. And reporting does nothing to help this.

Putting aside trans women for a moment, I don’t understand how an app called “HER” designed for women who are attracted to other women has so many nb and trans men. If you’re trying to be woke and inclusive by claiming womanhood just means identifying as a woman, why are you even allowing trans men and nonbinary people in?Isn’t it transphobic for these apps to see trans men and nonbinary people as women?

I’ve seen so many bearded fully grown men in their thirties and forties going by he/him and/or they/them pronouns while proudly calling themselves nonbinary lesbians on dating apps and it makes me sick. I can’t imagine even the super woke trans people and allies could be attracted to someone like that unless they’re already attracted to men. There’s absolutely nothing in common between a woman and a non-binary-identifying man. They’re not women by their OWN account, so why are there so fucking many sending me friend requests and super likes and all that garbage when I say explicitly in my profile that I’m only interested in women? Does it get their rocks off knowing they can get away with hitting on someone half their age with no interest in them so long as they appropriate the term lesbian first? It’s like they know they don’t even have to pretend to be transitioning, they don’t have to identify as women or even change their pronouns from He/him to something else, all they have to do is identify as lesbians and magically, they are apparently.

On another note that also frustrates me, why do some trans men feel entitled to female spaces, like our dating apps, when they’ve already self-excluded out of them? I just don’t understand the logic - if you want to be recognized as a man and validated, why are you even on a lesbian dating app? I know lesbians who’ve matched with people like this on LESBIAN dating apps before and are then told by these trans men that they can’t identify as a lesbians anymore once they start dating, so what’s the fucking point? It would be so fucking absurd for cis straight men to go on dating apps in an attempt to seduce gay women and get them to give up their identity - why is is suddenly OK when it’s a trans man? If trans men are men, surely this should be regarded as just as disgusting and unacceptable. But no. Female spaces have just become non-cis-male spaces, so any flavor of trans person is welcome, regardless of whether their inclusion even makes sense in the framework of trans logic.

Context: TIF artist painted a bunch of trans / nonbinary people in a cringe art style and TIMs are malding because presumably he didn't depict them as big tiddie anime babes.

Can't imagine what it would be like for an artist to depict your gender in an unflattering, or cringe way

I love it was made by a TIF. LOVE it.

Again the female sex seeing things more accurately.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

They certainly dont. And it's giving TIMs a little "Male privilege" moment that's rather annoying

Hear me out, I don’t hate it! I’m actually a big fan of this art style, with the minimalist lines and the fashion design vibe. If anything these pictures are flattering, avant-garde, and have an editorial feel.

TIMs can open their wallets and hire someone to draw them in an anime style that wildly exaggerates their most childlike and/or feminine features, or as their fursona or something. That’s always an option. But anyone who wants to know how they look to others needs to be prepared for it not to reflect their exact wishes and desires. If you’re a male built like a brick shithouse, an honestly proportioned image will absolutely reflect that.

I like it too. I don't think I'd be offended if I were a TIM. Well, I guess I would, because it just highlights how TIMs are incapable of seeing themselves as they are, which is men. So of course anything that reveals through the art that are just perfectly normal looking GNC men would bother them.

It's kinda sad that this person can't see the beauty there. But he thinks he's a woman, so fuck him honestly. I have sympathy for people with body dysmorphia, but liars? 'Naw.

Part of being a tim is being perpetually offended

pennygadgetOctober 7, 2024

There is nothing wrong with the art itself (it resembles stuff you'd see in most college galleries). TIMs are just used to shiney, polished anime shit

same, I actually like this art style. it does make you wonder what the TIM subjects of the portraits actually look like irl though.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

Yea I think even this is flattering considering how huge most of them are

faerieberryOctober 7, 2024

I like the art style tbh! The lines and shadows grab your attention and I think it looks cool - avant garde and editorial, as sylviasmushrooms said! Of course the TIMs wouldn’t like it tho LMAO

How dare you represent me as you see me, I wish to be represented the way I see myself in my mind!!

NOOctober 7, 2024

The men are out menning again

RusticTroglodyteOliver Twist MuppetOctober 8, 2024

OMG tims! Art is subjective! Lol

spacykateOctober 8, 2024

I don’t hate the art. I wouldn’t hang on my wall but it’s well done and trendy atm.

RNPhalaropeOctober 8, 2024

Yeah, cry more.

CryingInYourInboxOctober 8, 2024

I don't think they're really even crying tbh. I think they enjoy this. Men never get portrayed negatively in art unless they're explicitly the villain. I think they're reaching hard for art to get offended about because they're doing the poor-tour with womanhood and the fact that it's a TIF artist makes this the perfect scenario for them

RNPhalaropeOctober 8, 2024

Yes, I think you are right. They love being the oppressed, but violent, victim.

GenXerOctober 8, 2024

I wouldn't buy it.

But, I find the interplay of light and shadow and color to be intriguing.

To me it feels like Picasso and Worhol had a bastard love child.
