Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult 2024 (on Netflix)

I think that if you have kids, that you want to help understand controlling relationships and cults - this is a documentary to watch to help understand red flags.

It starts with a family whose child moved to California, joined a social media management company... that was run by a Religious Leader's son, where everyone in the group attends church. She cut her family completely out of her life...

And as proof this was at the direction of the church, the leader was uploading his sermons onto the internet, so they were able to show, in his own words, what he was telling his flock.

Then they pivot - to two of the original members of the group, who were teenagers who had an absentee mother, and how the family, and thus the church, took them in... and exploited them.

I can't help but compare it to Scientology, where you have the "Tom Cruise" experience vs the "Sea Org" member.

They then being in a few recent members who were dancers to talk about how they slowly realized they had to leave. One was told to cut off his relationship with his son - who was a baby - and couldn't do it.

When the family first spoke out about being cut off - you know the immediate reaction of the "Sparkle Family" crowd that "you must be abusive and she must have cut you off".

But the documentary has so much evidence, so many powerful testimonies, there is really no doubt that this is a "Religion that controls it's members".
