He should be jailed forever, just like every rapist.
Serious content warning. Idk what to say. This POS should never be permitted to see the outside of a cell again. He will and then he will do the same thing to a human. I hope he does the world a favor and dies in jail. I agree with many of the commenters.
I wish I hadn't read any of that.
I’m really sorry. I didn’t want to be a bummer but I do want to archive these things. I’m with you and I couldn’t finish the article.
Wow, how absolutely depraved. It's very possible he might escalate to torturing/raping/murdering a human if he is released from jail. And/or try to do it again to another animal. People like this guy need to be removed from society. The article quotes the prosecutor on the case:
"Animal cruelty, especially this sadistic, is the kind of anti-social behavior that poses the most serious risk and danger to humans,'' Biramian countered. "Courts have recognized the link between people who abuse animals and people who abuse humans.''
I am really really glad that was said in the article and by the prosecutor. It is absolutely vital to acknowledge this link.
YES you are a fucking psycho. Jesus Christ, these fucking men want to be the most depraved psychos possible yet still be considered good people. NO.
This just ruined my whole afternoon. A helpless little kitty.
Edit you know I tend to have smoke for the justice system but shout out to the one here, who went out of his way to make sure the dude got the book thrown at him.
I honestly hope he never knows a free breath for the rest of his wasted life.
This trash doesn’t even deserve the mercy of the death penalty. I hope every waking moment is pure agony and every day is a prayer for the mercy of death.
I highly highly highly recommend no one read the article. Save yourselves from the absolute visceral reaction I experienced.
Nah, I know what this subhuman thing needs. But I'd get banned from Ovarit if I said it. :P
Monsters like this make me want to being back vigilante justice.
Completely with you. I couldn’t breathe just reading that tbh. There is no safe place to release something like this. It isn’t fair to the public tbh. I’m not saying I support the death penalty because I actually don’t, but society should have a right to know this man will never be near another living human or non-human animal again.
Mood.
I've helped take veterinary forensic photos and perform necropsies of suspect abuse patients and what I read in this article makes everything I have seen irl seem like Disney World in comparison. My heart actually dropped upon reading this, and i kinda even regret opening the article.
This man is on a fast track to becoming the next Luca Mcwhateverhisnameis/Vacuum Kittens Guy, only even more demented. Not to mention, he did this to get back at his roommate for...caring for the cat. He did this to hurt the cat and the roommate. This dude is a ticking timebomb and I don't think the world will have to wait long before he does this to a human woman as a form of revenge.
It'd be interesting to know the sex of the roommate. I would hope it was male ... and I suspect that, too, both because women typically do not share rooms with men, because we know it is not safe, but also because ... I don't think someone so sick and twisted would have refrained from raping a woman. He probably targeted the cat because the roommate would have been able to fight back.
If it is not illegal to kill a cat, they urgently need new laws.
Cruelty against animals, especially pets (casual cruelty to livestock, like castrating piglets without anesthesia, is a different class of crime, and more indicative of ruthless greed for money) is a reliable indicator that someone is a psychopath. Laws should reflect that in some way.
Plus, this man did harm a human, by explicitly wanting to torture his roommate.
I’m not certain about New Jersey, but animal cruelty is a felony in all 50 states. Extreme cruelty, like this case, is often given pretty harsh punishments.
The problem is that it’s a felony property crime rather than a felony violent crime in most states. For example this man 🚨 another extreme warning for that link 🚨 in Nevada will eventually get released, despite receiving the maximum sentence. There’s nothing they can do to prevent it. He is not a “violent” offender. This is why I get annoyed when people say offhand shit like “release non-violent offenders” GTFO. Classify violent crime properly and then we can say that.
That sentiment has been looking like a motte and bailey anyway. Decarceration, in practice, has involved letting out some really horrid violent offenders or releasing them without bail.
I'm painfully reminded of that one man who was booked for violence against his wife (who was the one who called tho cops on him), was bailed out by a "uwu aint-prison activist group uwu", and then immediately murdered her.
I've seen so many examples of that. First one was pre-COVID, an activist group paid the bail for a domestic abuser (that they do this for DV is so horrible since the time the abuser is in jail is often the only chance for the victim to escape) and within like a day his infant child was dead.
I think it's a particularly bad look when politicians currently in office help bail out the criminals.
I don’t know how you even do that job, I don’t even want to be the journalist who reports these stories, and I couldn’t get through the whole article. You’re a braver woman than me.
I’ve said it before but the Venn diagram of men who hurt animals and men who hurt children and women is a circle. We do not treat these crimes with the gravity they deserve.
If anyone wants to treat and study this guy, they're welcome, but they should have to do it while he's in prison.
It's not like the punishment for animal abuse is that harsh anyway. It figures his lawyer is trying to get him out of any consequences.
And, I'm sure he does need treatment. He can get that in jail.
