A 2003 study found that a woman in an abusive relationship is five times more likely to be killed by her partner if there is a gun in the house

I wish more women understood the data on this. I even see comments on here saying that women should be able to own guns. Evidence doesn't support this. It will not make women more safe. Banning guns is the only way women will be more safe from gun violence. That's just what the majority of data shows.

Anecdote---I was eating out the other day, doing outdoor dining. I live in an area where guns aren't allowed. Two males got into a fight right next to us on the street. I was sitting in an area I couldn't escape from if anything bad were to happen (the outdoor dining arrangement enclosed us, so that if we wanted to leave we would have to go through the area where the men were fighting.) My anxiety and adrenaline shot up. Thankfully cops came and sorted things out, no bystanders were hurt. But all I could think of was---wow, what if this was a state where guns and open-carry, or even concealed carry, was allowed? I could be dead.

That's a really great article--thanks for posting it.

I am constantly enraged over the fact that every time there is a mass shooting, people discuss mental illness and gun control when <the common denominator is men> and absolutely no one wants to talk about that part.
