Badges commemorating the Sewol Ferry tragedy? What….does this one have to do with all their other testerical mantruming? This is bizarre.
I think the fact she is from Gwangu, Jeolla Province is supposed to signify that she is progressive and left wing— a feminist. That area of Korea has been associated for a long time with left wing politicians and political demonstrations. People from there are also heavily negatively stereotyped and discriminated against within Korea. It was the site of the 1980 Gwangju Massacre during which the (US backed) dictatorship regime went into the city in tanks, with machine guns and helicopters, and killed pro-democracy demonstrators and innocent schoolchildren in the streets. These Korean MRAssholes must be heavily into hard-right politics, (who are often denialists or blame the protestors and absolve the dictatorship)…shocker.

It’s also bizarre because I know many, many Korean women with very short hair, and no one cares. It’s always goofy to see MRA reactionaries even in such a patriarchal country (wtf do they even want? Make it even worse for women? I think I just answered my own question 🙄).

An San is an absolute champ. All her competitions were very exciting to watch and she got so many perfect sets, unbelievable! She's also the first female to get three gold medals in a row there! Such a bummer that a large part of her country can't be happy for her, and honestly, fuck these disgusting men and their horribly pathetic egos. I stand with An San, with Korean women and especially with the radfem community over there.
