MisogynyWoman Defends Herself; Men Rage
An article was posted on my local social media feed about a woman shooting an alleged peeping tom. The woman is, of course, being cooperative with authorities as they investigate because the man died. As some of you likely know, laws in this country are abysmal when it comes to peeping toms and voyeurism, but as you also likely know, men who peep tend to be men who escalate into worse and more dangerous behaviors.
All that said: The comment section was filled with angry men calling for this woman's prosecution/head. They were raging that she'd shot an "innocent man" and had such a "kneejerk overreaction." How did she know he wasn't just "walking by" late at night? Maybe she should have had her blinds down! She probably "lured him in" and shot him out of vindictiveness.
This is really how men think. They cannot conceive of any scenario in which women fear for their lives and defend themselves.
But how different would the comments be had the scenario involved a father shooting a man peeping at the daughter or even wife?
Women struggled to be admitted to universities, to win the vote, to have financial control over their lives. They're still struggling to preserve their reproductive rights. TiMs never had to fight for any of these things.
Heck, they're still struggling to be born, to even be seen as members of the human species . . .
This reminds me of Dave Chappelle's joke about how the trans rights movement is a rich White man's hobby. And how it would have gone if all the trans-women were poor Black people...

I bet if TIMs were treated like real women they would be fed up with "being a woman" really quickly...
