I was surprised to see this article in the WaPo. Karen Attiah has written an article asking why men kill women's plants. I have had this happen and I wondered if anyone else has?

She asked the question on Twitter and got responses from a lot of women that this had also happened to them.

Do you think there is spite behind it?

When I lived on my own, I planted a clematis that grew up a chicken wire fence that separated my yard and my elderly female neighbors yard. She liked it and I liked it. When she got too old to do her own yard, she had her son do it. He sprayed that whole clematis with Weed B Gone.

I didn't at the time think it was an act of male spite, more ignorance. But now I wonder. It had been there for well over five years and surely he had seen it growing, flowering and looking nice? He knew there was no male living at my house who would come round and complain.

At the time of posting, this article has gathered 2.1K comments, some from women saying this has happened to them, but a lot from men being defensive in comments and whining about misandry. I posted the live link too so you can see the comments.
