Maybe he should have considered the possibility of deportation when committing crimes in a foreign country? Let Gambia figure it out.
I think Dame Henrietta Hill should take him into her home, to make sure the poor dear gets his medications properly and on time.
This could set a precedent that effectively bans deportation unless the person is from a similarly well-off or better-off country. This man's deportation can't be treated as equivalent to deporting someone whose home country's government is waiting to murder them.
They said there was 'a real risk that he will experience genuine difficulties in the Gambia in being able to access a regular supply of his necessary medications', adding: 'There is a real risk of at least social isolation and stigmatisation.'
This second part in particular shows that it's not about health and human rights, it's about male privilege. Why bring this up at all, as if it's relevant? What will the excuse be for the next rapist, or the next one?
If rapists can't be deported, they should be imprisoned as an alternative, until it's determined that their home country's conditions are safe for deportation (which in this case I guess would include becoming the first country to resolve the problem of social isolation). I'm for improving prison conditions also.
Mine is a very unpopular opinion, but I just can't disregard women as collateral damage for the greater good of men's rights. There needs to some third option (and I'm sure there are better ideas for what it is that I will support), not just two options where we default to the one that throws one's own female citizens to the wolves since we can get away with that politically.
If it is too dangerous to go home (though that's not the case with this particular rapist), that doesn't mean they should continue to walk freely in the country. Rapists can't be welcomed.
According to that twisted logic, it would be impossible to deport Americans from other first world countries because we don’t have universal health care.
Also, the medications excuse is rich. In my experience it’s very easy to get medications in Africa as long as you have the money. There are very meager regulations there, and you can get a lot of what you need directly from the pharmacist, no need to go through a doctor.
I can’t help wondering that if the punishment for rape was castration then all of a sudden he’d be fine with sorting out his meds in his home country!
Illegal migrant rapists have more rights and acces to healthcare than British women do.
I can't get any GP to take my chronic pain seriously, let alone access treatment.
